We are the 5th house on a 6 house gravel road that is 0.7 miles long.

House #2 insists everyone drive 8 to 10 mph to prevent dust. Originally we all agreed to 15 mph.

I suggested chip-seal with a prorated cost to each. No response from houses 2, 3, and 4. 1, 5, and 6 agree.

Now 40 year old unemployed IQ 78 son of house #2 is giving me **** because I create too much dust.

Should I go faster?

They were the 5th household to move in fully knowing the road is dusty. Now trying to dictate how fast everyone should go. The moron son says the street is on his dad's property and he can gate it.

I said go ahead.

I'm a little curious why they are so concerned about dust... It's a PITA if you are driving an ATV behind someone but unless your house is way too close to the road I can't see how the dust would affect anyone.

They don't like dust. Their portion of the chipseal would have been $3500. I even offered to pay their portion. No response. Just weird people. No one stands up to them except me. House #3 and #4 don't want to spend the money. So they just play along. I'm the only rude neighbor who refuses to drive 8 to 10 mph openly even though no one follows it.

House #5- us and #6 are actually working on paving the road the back way but it has to go through 1/4 mile through an empty lot and I'm working on getting an approval from the owner.

We even considered paying for the whole thing; $28,000 but due to the house #2, we just don't want to.

Ehh... price to pay to live out in the county.

Oh...and yes, we will gate the road we pave. Hell yes.

They put up a 40 yard long 8 foot wooden fence against the street when they moved in 3 years ago.. I asked what yall doing? They said...they're putting up the fence to prevent dust from coming on to their propery. I said..mmm you do know dust rises higher than 8 feet...

They just gave me a puzzled look.

I would blatantly disregard anything that they say after that and drive as fast as the conditions allowed.

On the other hand I do sympathize with them... I know I would go crazy if the dirt from the road mixed with the dirt in my yard.

Next step: install some big industrial fans to blow the dust away from their house.

Dude...

Their yard... and driveway... all road base, no different than the road.

They have a seasonal creek that flows 10 feet away from their house..and runs through their backyard.

They built a swimming pool right smack in the middle of the backyard where the creek ran.

Of course we in Northern Cal had a 7 year long drought...

Then for the last 2 years, it rained like Noah's flood... well, it really wasn't pretty for them.. they couldn't figure out why side of their house kept getting flooded.. they kept digging..digging..and laying deeper french drain

I know...I'm being an ass. I could probably be a better neighbor and keep the peace.

But I just can't.

Everyone knows I'm in Kali.

Funny thing is...these are die hard Trump supporters. Not faulting them about that.

Driving on gravel roads creates dust?

That must be some heavy car you have to grind the gravel into dust.

By the way, convince them to move to the Texas or Oklahoma Panhandle for a couple of years. They'd never even notice dust again in most places.

Dip****s. Their cost share for the chip seal road would have been roughly the same as the cost of the fence they erected. The dust continues!

The make a spray coating that is much cheaper than chip seal for gravel and base roads. It bonds to the smaller particles and prevents dust. May be a better option.

Don't know about Kali, but in Texas when I grew up on a gravel road, all unmarked gravel roads had 55 mph speed limits.......
