CPR (not P)

I don't know of a good forum for this, so I'll try here since there are folks from all walks of life here.

I haven't had CPR training in several years and only once since I did it as a kid in the '70s. I'd also like to go ahead and get trained in First Aid.

For those that have done this or know about it, do you recommend the Red Cross or American Heart Assn.?

The Texas State Board requires us to be recertified in CPR every 2 years. I do mine online at Pro CPR. You take a quiz at the end to get your printable certification. No hands on stuff of course.

Six one way, half a dozen the other. The end goal is the same and being in EMS for ions, I've taken both, and AHA as always slightly more in-depth.

Can't comment on the First Aid, but if you're posting here I would assume Wilderness First aid would be better.

As a nurse in the hospital setting, I have to have my accredited by AHA. That doesn't mean I have to take it through AHA, just whoever I take it through just has to use their program.

I've done the online classes and in person. If it's been a while I would recommend taking the in person class. You will get much more out of it. The in person class is much much more hands on.

With the the online you can take the pretest and then you can start the scenarios without opening the book.
I have coworkers that still have problems trying to work the scenarios on the online class.

All that being said I just re-certified by my BLS/ACLS/PALS in the past couple months online.

Just for first aid there are a bunch of decent options. For cpr aha is the way to go in my opinion. Not that it's overly complicated (there's some talk of going to all compression cpr and that may have happened since my last cert which is up in June), but they are pretty much the gold standard and are good about evidence based recommendations.

I did my last certification through the AHA. Truth is, if you are taking it because you WANT to, you will get a lot more out of it.

I just finished AED/First Aid/CPR through the Red Cross. Online and In-person blended class. I thought it was good. Never used the American Heart Association.

All compressions CPR has not happened yet (just certified a few weeks ago) but they mentioned it was coming soon.
