I have found memories of days at Cima, but there just isn't much justification for keeping it.
It was underutilized by campers. Summer camps numbers weren't fantastic and weekend camping at other times was almost non existent. After the Blanco flood wiped out river camp, they had to take a hard look at it and the numbers just weren't there to keep it open. It had been running a $600k deficit for years and that doesn't even begin to account the River camp replacement cost...
It just isn't the destination camp for most people. The new Strake will cover the people that want to stay close to Houston (which is quite a lot of people) and those that want a better camp than Strake were already bypassing Cima for other options.
