The Ranger we use on the ranch is occasionally used for pulling brush or small stumps, and was interested in something other than a chain for these tasks.

What options and sources exist? Kevlar winch cables exist, but something in 25ft lengths or so would work best.
Thanks

Just get an actual 25ft tow strap. Tractor supply carries quite a few lengths. I think I saw up to 40ft when I was there last.

I know you said no chain but i find chains are the best option for basic ranch work. I keep a chain in my 4wheeler basket and mule bed. We also have some winch steel cable that works really well and can be looped for easy storage/transport.

I personally do not like use rope or straps. They get wet, they dry out, they stretch, they wear out if you drag them, you have to worry about someone tieing a bad knot that you cant get undone, etc.

Ya gotta figure out if ya want a dynamic or a static strap. (basically do ya slowly pull the object, or will ya try and yank it). I don't like yanking stuff with a vehicle, but to each their own.

I prefer static straps/ropes. If ya got the coin, Dyneema is great. No stretch, super lightweight, strong as steel in the same size, floats, and technically gets stronger when wet. You do have to be careful with abrasion against rough surfaces, but we use lengths of fire hose on the outside on the rope to protect it. The only other downside (to some) is that ya can't tie knots with it. I actually prefer that, as knots always impart a weak point, and after extreme tension they aren't easily untied. The best way is to use the incorporated eyes on the rope, and an appropriately sized shackle.

A few places sell ready-made straps, but if ya got a few minutes and can follow instructions, ya can buy the bare rope for a lot cheaper and weave the "eyes" in the end. The way it's braided makes it super easy.
