Got an invite to a bbq and tour of the newly opened Black Tree Ranch. They offer all kinds of shooting, military and tactical training. I live nearby and they have invited all of the area land owners to this. Apparently, some of the closer neighbors are not happy with the noise and claim the place has devalued their land. They have formed a neighborhood association. Not sure what they are trying to do but this place was a burned out 150 acres from the Bastrop County complex fire in 2011. The guy that bought it has improved it tremendously and it now looks very nice. He has literally spent millions improving it. I am far enough away that I can see the place but I don't hear it really unless it is a north wind blowing. Looking forward to the tour and meeting the instructors. They look pretty hardcore.

I don't blame them for being pissed. Who wants to hear that racket all the time when you own a quiet, rural piece of land? But in fairness, this is America and you can do what you want with on your own land as long as it is legal...thank goodness. This is the risk that we all run when we buy land in rural areas.

Can't be any worse than Camp Swift as far as the noise goes. At least he is trying to be a good neighbor.

All I know is I wouldn't mess with a single one of those dudes on that website. Seems like a pretty cool company/program. I guess the people in that area are lucky it's some elite self defense trainers and not a trailer park or anything else. It could always be worse.

I'm sure the owners/operators are safe guys, but no way in hell would I advertise shooting a .50cal on 150 acres to the general public.

I drive by it all the time. It's in Hilly terrain that would let them shoot in valleys that would contain the shooting well.
