I think we had a thread on here about ethanol free gas and have an update. Buc-ees at Waller has ethanol free premium available a the new pumps they just opened up. It was $2.99 vs $2.49 ( extra) yesterday. Hellova lot cheaper than the TrueFuel type options and excellent for lawnmowers and small engines.

Wonder if they are adding this at all Buc-ees?

Madisonville is the closest one to me.

Too lazy to google it, but there is a web site out there that lists ethanol free stations, for those that care.

After quick google search, link to their map.

Last time I checked, for me to get ethanol free gas, I would burn half of a tank to get there and half to get home.

I'm working near the north Fort Worth Buc-ees this morning. I'll check on my way out. Gotta stop anyways.

At about every gas station here in Tennessee.

I put it in all my lawn equipment, etc. It's usually about $.50 above regular octane gasoline.

I always wondered why Texas didn't have it readily available.

buy yourself 2 gallons of ethanol fuel, add a cup of water to it, shake it around vigorously, let it settle for a few hours, siphon off the top half into a new container, dispose of the rest. done.

still way cheaper than true fuel

That just seems crazy enough to work.

The Buc-ees on Oyster Creek in Clute has it as well

I have heard about doing this before, but the question that came up was where do you "dispose of the rest" without dumping hazardous material down the drain or into the ground?

Not a good idea. Some of the water will stay dissolved in the gasoline, as much as 1% by volume. Try a simple experiment. Put just a small amount of water (a few tablespoons) in a gallon of gasoline. Shake it up and the water will disappear.

Murphy gas on Pat Booker Road in Universal City has it.

what's the negative of using ethanol gas again? messes up high performance engines?

It eats the fuel lines in lawnmowers and other small engines
SteveBott

Correct. It is a corrosive add on that eats small engines alive. Plastics are the norm in small engines and they hate the stuff.

Go to Home Depot and get 100% gas in a can for small engines and thank me later.

Or buy it at bucees and wal mart for way less

Correct if you want to drive to those stores. My local Walmart does not sell it and Buckees is an hour away.

Two gallons at HD covers me for a year for my yard and it's 5 minutes away.

Not arguing with you on this at all... But I'm going to add...

Look to get cans from unopened cases or from the back and find out if the store accepts returns on the stuff. I've read (I think on this board) of folks buying cans of water that had been returned.

I know they sell it in both pre-mixed and no oil varieties. I've never had (might be jinxing myself) a problem in my larger small engines. Usually it's just your two stroke motors in my experience that can't handle the stuff. I use the caned stuff in all of my 2 strokes, but not in my larger 4 stroke mower.

I wanted to check in and see if anyone else if having issues with Buckees Ethanol free with their lawn equipment. I wanted to use it with my lawnmower but when the engine started it seemed like it was flooded and would quickly die. Is the octane too high, what gives? Is there anything that I can do that would make this to work. Seems much cheaper than Trufuel.

You are gonna burn your fuel cost savings in time and money spent on equipment that isn't working. Just use TruFuel. I go through two cases a year, and the $80 is well spent knowing that my equipment will start and run when I need it to.

no clue, but I ran it in my Honda 3000 all football season without any issues.
