Man. Hard to believe it has been ten years since he was kill. Never had the chance to meet Justin, but I did know his widow when we were in college.

10 years ago - wow.... I remember when that awful story was reported. Attended a benefit fundraiser shortly after the incident. RIP Justin.

Ursus did you know him, or his partner? I'm close friends with SB, and I'm happy his life has seemingly normalized for him finally.
No, I never knew him personally. I knew his widow from when we were in college. I was with TPWD at the time as a biologist.
Justin was the first GW I ever had interactions with. While he was always friendly and professional, he gave my BF at the time all sorts of hell. I always got a good laugh out of it because I always had my stuff together and never got a ticket. He was a good man. Truly loved what he did.

I was the Trauma surgeon on call at Hermann when they brought him in.
Very sad deal, nothing could be done.
It hits me hardest when LE or FD guys come in hurt!!!

Thru a friend, had the pleasure of hunting with him probably 4-5 times over about 2 years. He was with TPWD then but not yet a warden. Good guy. Remember when it happen like it was yesterday. Still think about him every time I hear of something similar with law enforcement.
He was a great guy. Close friend. One of those guys u wish u good be more like.
I was living in East Berbard at the time of his murder, drove by the exact place he was shot daily...it forever gave me creeps driving by the place.
