.380

Any thoughts on either?
I handled a Kimber yesterday. Like the feel other than a floating pinky. I haven't found a Baby Rock in the wild yet.

Just got the Kimber for my wife. Want her to get comfortable and natural with 1911 controls. Great feel to it. We considered Sig 238 and G42 and ended up with the Kimber.

I am a big fan of the sig P238.

I would rather go with that over either of the other .380 options.

I recently bought a Baby Rock. They've been hard to come by but finally got one on Gunbroker.

I like it very much. In size it is a perfectly scaled down Gov't 1911, so the grip is longer meaning you can get three fingers around it. The stock grip is also rubberized and helps with both grip and recoil. The most amazing thing to me is how accurate it is- it is a little tack driver. It has also been very reliable with different kinds of ammo.

On the down side, the barrel is a little long for most pocket carry, and being all steel it is heavier than some competitors. So I don't think it will replace my current EDC but it sure is a fun gun to shoot.

Look at the Sig P938.

Great shooters. I'm just not a .380 fan.

I like both the P238 and Micro. The Sig gets great reviews and it looks like the Micro had some kinks that have been sorted out over the years. The Micro is a touch lighter, and has a more traditional 1911 look. I've heard the Micro only likes more expensive ammo. I've put a box of Fiocchi through mine and the slide failed to lock back after the final shot probably 3-4 times. I've bought some Remington ammo and will see if that solves it.

I didn't even know about the Baby Rock, but it looks like a fun gun. I picked a .380 purely for its ability to pocket carry easier than 9mm. I'm not a huge fan of the caliber, but I'm more likely to carry it due to its size and weight.

Another option is the Browning Black Label .380. Scaled down 1911 that is not too small for big hands. Very light, good shooter, easy to carry.

Surplus CZ 83 from Czech police
Paid like $139 for it
Medium size with a small round, very pleasant to shoot
(I'm cheap)

I looked at the Browning and even handled one to confirm that it has a polymer frame.

It has a polymer frame. That excluded it from my personal consideration.

It's easily a $300+ gun nowadays - and still a good deal at that. You're not cheap, you're smart.
