Anyone ever been on one if his trips? I am supposed to join a group this summer for a trip.

Good? Bad? Awesome?

Pretty good trip. He doesn't have the nicest boat or skiffs of the bunch that goes out there but he is a heck of dude and we had a blast with him a few summers ago. Our group was probably 3-4 highly experienced fisherman and the rest fairly novice. Fishing was slow during the time we went. He actually recommended we not go to the islands and we go a completely different direction and fish the marshes. We didn't listen to him and went to the islands because none of us had been. Going forward I will do whatever he suggests.

Food was great and as long as the company is good you are going to have a blast. Be cognizant of the fact that the surf side of the islands is full of sharks. It was crazy being 15 yds off the beach and having sharks chase bait between you and the beach. What time of year did you go? Planning to go in June and I certainly hope it's not a slow trip!!!! Actually, that's the first time I've heard about anyone not catching many fish....

Never been with Troy but the Chandeleurs are a fun trip. I don't believe the fishing to be as good as it was 15 years ago but that can apply to a lot of places.

We went in June. If I remember correctly the guys who did the best were in the surf at sun up or on a good tide. I fished the surf only once but with the amount of sharks I wasn't about to string a fish....f that noise.

Been a few times and i can say that since the last hurricane the islands have not been what they used to. I will likely not go back unless some.clients really wamt to do it. I just assume head to venice.

Like others have said. If the fishing is not the focus, its a great trip. Food is good, lots of time to hang out and BS. For me now, its about the fish.
