I was given a nice pair of snake boots for Christmas and they where one size to small. I was not looking forward to this exchange process. Wow Academy here in Aggieland made this very easy and quick. Thank you Academy for the wonderful service.

Same here. Returned a scope in Lewisville. Had a dedicated return table. Took all of 3 minutes.

My roommate in college worked at the College Station Academy. All of his good stories were about returns.

Academy's return policy is very open - no receipt needed generally if they carry the item (this may have changed in the last decade). He would have people returning winches or parts that hasn't been carried in 5-6 years.... and the manager would tell them to accept the returns.

Guess the happy customer is worth more than the product to them.

Used to work at academy back in the day

Had a guy want to return an ugly stick, I'm think how in the hell donyou break one of those? He used it to some how open his garage and after a few times the rod broke. And he got a new one.

Also had a dewsbag frat type call and say he was in matagorda and asked if we had 4 specific types of fishing rods in stock. After identifying them and pulling them from the shelf he came in a few days later complaining how he broke all the tips off when he slammed his tailgate. He too got new ones.

My returns at Academy have gone very smoothly. I'll also say, like a few other retailers they can look up your purchase by your name and reference it to your CC# so if I lose my receipt it's easy for them to pull up my purchase date/price.

Do y'all happen to know their return policy on somthing like a yeti? No receipt, received as a gift-- pretty sure it was purchased there.

I had a fishing guide once (either Port A or Port O...can't remember) who claimed that when his reels weren't running so smooth anymore he would intentionally force the handle backwards to strip the gears and then take them to Academy to be replaced with new ones.

I give Academy an A++ for their overall service and their liberal policy on returns. Alway my first go to for sporting goods stuff.

Directing this towards that guide but people like that are why so many stores can be a pain in the rear to return things at. Worst kind of people are those who abuse the privileges they have and ruin it for everyone else

Agree 100%. Wish I could remember who it was but that was a long time ago and I've used probably 10-12 different guides between Port O and Port A.

Academy gets bashed on here quite often but I've always really loved that store. Good people, great comp policy, and more than adequate gear for land or sea. If you want top end, high dollar tack, it ain't your cup o tea. But if you're a tea drinker, you Prob buy gucciflage and that's just wrong.

The arrival of Di*k's has only made them better. My mom bought me a thick pullover for christmas and I was able to return it for full price without a receipt and get a thinner version and a shirt. All aggie of course.

They also price match +5%, firearms included! I found my new Sig online for cheaper and got it that day for $75 less than their list price.

They have had some good clearance specials this week too. Got a Bushnell Binoc for $75, regular $300. Missed out on a Redfield 3x9-40 that was marked down from $200 to $25. Passed on the opportunity to get s Stand Up Paddle Board for $75 that was $400.

Got a $6 bottle of buck urine for $.48. A three pack of $35 broadheads for $6. And some other odds and ends.

I've always considered Academy in the same boat as Walmart when it comes to returning things. I played summer baseball with a guy from a poor East Texas family and he would always tell me that he'd go buy new cleats in early summer, play in them all year, then just walk in to Academy and exchange them for new ones.

Last Christmas I ordered a Carhartt Jacket online from Acadwmy and it got delayed and delayed and delayed! I called to cancel and they wouldn't accept the cancel request after 3 weeks (missed Christmas). I called the CEO and left him a voicemail telling him I already bought a jacket at his San Antonio store and I didn't understand why I'm getting the switch and bait put on me.

The next day I get a call from the corporate manager of customer service. We had a great talk about the issue and frustration. The resolution was simple, great apology for the confusion, frustration, and the teams unwillingness to cancel the order then sent me the original jacket ordered free of charge after a credit for the order!

Great Company!!!
