Looking at buying a ghost firearms 300 blackout upper, does anyone have one or know anything about them? I was going to buy one from PSA but they are out of stock at the moment. I can get a 16" upper right now for $259 from Primary Arms but it's branded Ghost Firearms. It only has one review on it and it's 4 stars.

Why would you want a .300 BLK in rifle barrel length?

Because I don't want to do a form 1 and have to wait a year to build SBR. Only other option is do a pistol, which I've seriously considered. They actually have a 10.5" on sale right now for $249.

My opinion is you should probably look for a different caliber because you're negating the advantage of the .300 BLK. If you're going to carry the additional length and weight you might as well get a caliber that can actually benefit from it.

Otherwise, just get the stamp or configure a pistol that works for you.

Think I might just go the pistol route. Don't really want a 16" barrel and then a 10" suppressor hanging off that.

Unless you're waiting on the upcoming hearing act, it's not any more difficult to get something SBR'ed

I know, I'm just on a very strict budget at the moment for this build and don't have the spare 200 for the stamp. So I'm gonna build as pistol and then I can do stamp later and convert it to SBR.

I'm still researching my build and kind of dragging my feet to see what happens politically hoping we all get lucky. However, what I have read is this is one area where the ammo you want to shoot will have an impact. Subsonic verses supersonic the bullet grains differ dramatically. Silencers also have an impact.

Normally you build a rifle and find the ammo it likes. .300BLK seems to be a rare example of needing to match the barrel to your primary focus.

My primary focus is subsonic, suppressed and looking to use it for hogs and fill MLD tags with shots being under 100 yards, more than likely under 50 yards.

300blk was designed for an 8.5" barrel. The powder fully burns in that 8.5" so you don't really gain anything with an extra 1.5" of length.
