Not sure what you're looking for specifically, but Honda will run a year end clearance on their 2wd Rancher 420's that may fit in your budget. Would be closer to the 5k mark though.

brief google search looks like a 4 wheeler is going to be a better option for the budget. would want a 4x4

If your budget is set, I'd look for a gently used machine. You'll get substantially more machine for your dollar.

Again, thinking about budget, consider your need and purpose before spending extra money on 4x4. I have never needed four-wheel drive on a four-wheeler and I've put them through the paces in mud, hills, lakes, etc. over the last 25 years. We have owned Kawasaki, Honda, and more recently, Polaris-all great.
I think the 4x4 would only be necessary in rocky, mountain terrain where there are not trails. That may be your exact purpose, not sure.

you guys have any experience with Tao Tao? Not familiar with the brand and see they're much less expensive

I have Honda and Kawasaki products. Happy with both. Stay away from the Chinese ones. Their replacement parts network is less than desirable.

Do not buy the Chinese ATVs or UTVs. Pure crap from what I've heard.

I have 2014 Polaris 570 efi sportsman 4x4 that I'm looking to unload in the upper end of your price range.

Bought it to trail ride but ended up only using it a few times.

Let me know if you are interested.

I'm live in Houston but I'm in bcs area frequently.

will keep you in mind. I spent all my fun cash on guns before the election so I'm looking to go the finance route probably.

Stick to Polaris/Honda/Kawasaki in my opinion.
I have a 08 Kawasaki 650 brute force that is a bad mo fo. Runs like a top. You should definitely be able to find some nice used four wheelers in that ball park.

2015 Polaris 570 Midsize single bench with windshield, roof, front hitch, LED bars on the front and back, and gun racks in the back and quick draws on the roof.

2016 I believe 6x10 Diamond Trailer with spare and fold down ramp.

$9k for the package. Selling bc the wife told me to get a crew.
