There is a clothing/holster line called dene adams

https://deneadams.com

And in one video I sent to the rib the model had a robin egg blue OTF switchable. Much to my surprise she said that looks really neat and kinda wants one.

How practical and dependable is that action?

Worse case scenario if things get all stabby stabby it seems that the action is taking a lot of stress. And if the mechanism fails you are in trouble. We don't have our LTC's nor would she probably ever carry a gun. But at first glimpse this looks kind of neat.

The thing I don't like about OTF switch blades is if you ever accidentally hit the button and deploy it in your pocket, there is not stopping it. It comes out then stabs you.

I carry a full auto switch blade, but it folds and opens like a traditional pocket knife. So if for some reason I accidentally hit the button and deploy it in my pocket, it is "contained" and won't open/fold out all the way.

Also, if you stab somebody with a foldable, you aren't putting pressure directly on the action. So that alleviates that concern as well.

I carry a DA auto. No button to deploy. You slide the side of the grip in a certain way and the blade deploys. I've never had it deploy accidentally in my pocket. I too wouldn't carry an OTF.

Forgive me for not knowing this but I have gone years on this board not knowing what RIB stands for... I know what it likely is just not what the acronym stands for: it's obviously not Rigid Inflatable Boat

It literally means rib. You know, Eve from Adam and all that...

No problem. Some on here hate the term used in that way. It doesn't bother me.

I got Dubi an H&K last year for Christmas. It is legal sized, single side blade--to stay legal, the operation is fairly easy to use and the serrations on the lever won't cut your thumb.

On the 6th day God created man. He found man yearning for a partner. God asked Adam what do you want in a companion.

Adam said" I want somebody who can cook and clean all day and screw all night. I want somebody to bring me my coffe in the morning and a beer/mixed drink in the evening"

God say " Whoah....... that will cost you"

Adam said "how much?" To which God replied "and arm and a leg"

Adam thought for second and said

........

"How much can I get for a rib"

(AND THATS EXACTLY EHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO TO THEM)

Most (nearly all) OTF knives will not fully deploy if the blade contacts something during deployment. They could make a tiny slice depending upon what they're up against but they're not going to cause a stab wound.

Just get her a Ka-Bar, strap it to her thigh, and tell her to only wear mini skirts.

True. Knife will not deploy if it hits something when you are extending the blade.

However, it is very easy to use and an alternative I can utilize when in a gun free zone. I carried it every day at A&M until August 1st when campus carry became legal. Now I carry it when needed.

Buy a nice one. Make sure it is easy for her to open; I tried many different knives that I was not strong enough to deploy. In Texas, beware of 2-sided and >4.5" blade; both are illegal. Gun Corp tried to sell me both with the promise they were legal. Luckily my cop son knew better.

To actually answer the question the OP posed (what a concept!), I have and carry a Microtech Ultratech. Quality is outstanding, action is easy to use, and I can't imagine it accidentally deploying in my pocket or in your wife's purse. If it did though, as mentioned, it's designed to stop rather than to stab you. Mine won't even stab through a styrofoam cup on deployment, but once it's all the way out and locked up it is locked in place really well.
