Heading down this weekend to try to get on some quail. Been once before and it was decent. Supposed to be a good year for quail in general, or so I've been reading.

Anyone else been before/ going this year?

I've gone every year for about 5 years. Expect to walk a lot. You may not shoot anything all day. You may bust sever coveys. No telling. We opted to wait till December this year for cooler weather.

The grass is going to be thick.

How's was the hunt?

Was hot! But we did end up seeing quite a few birds. Lots of tough shots though with the shrubbery, only came away with 4 birds as a group. The biologists confirmed that they have much larger quail population than last year and they foresee it continuing to grow.

Met a few Ags that were down there as well so all around it was a good trip. I'm still new to Quail hunting (and hunting in general) so the 2 birds I got were 2 more than last year. More experienced groups with good dogs were getting 4-8 a day I think (per person). Don't think anyone shot a limit but I'm not 100% sure.
