Bachelor Party - Looking for a ranch...

How long do you want to ignore this user?
My brother is getting married at the end of April in 2017 and I'm in charge of the bachelor party. We have already ruled out Vegas and other trips as we have been on many bachelor parties over the last 2 years doing that along with lake houses and seasides west coast/east coast. We would be looking to have the party at around the beginning of April.

Given that I'm located in Texas and I feel as though the weather will be excellent here at the end of April he is interested in doing like a ranch weekend type of thing that might involve a cabin that can hold 10-15 people (does not need to be fancy). Also access to maybe some pig hunting, some tanks to fish in, some ATV's and exploring and such.

We are looking to have this cost less than $500 per person as people (preferably less than that) are going to be flying from all over and will be spending a good chunk of change on plane tickets as we are all over. We would be looking at doing like a Friday-Sunday thing.. Maybe even as soon as a Thursday or so...

As a side note I could likely get a lot taken care of here as providing our own firearms and such if that would take anything off price...I've found a couple of ranches that offer these type of things but are REALLY expensive and just doesn't look very practical and are offering ridiculously awesome things that we'd rather not afford.

Any ideas from someone who has done something like this before? I'm in CS, would be nice if this place wasn't more than like 3-4 hours away so I can handle a lot of the setup with being rooted here.

Thanks a ton!

I wish you the best. At that price point, you most likely wont get everything you want.

Call Chris at 3-S Texas Outdoors in Bedias. I am 99% certain he can get you taken care of.

From a liability standpoint what you're requesting doesn't sound too promising.. The guns, Bach Party( alcohol), riding around ranch and "exploring" property you're not familiar with in vehicles that aren't yours, etc...

The big question is, what's your budget for hookers and blow?

Thanks Max! Will check it out.

I kind of figured at that price point it may be difficult as well. And obviously boozin would need to be a consideration. I was actually surprised at even finding several ranches where they had bachelor party packages and did not seem to be terribly concerned about liability things. Anyway, we have a responsible group and aren't looking to bad stuff with our friends. Just want to have a good time. Most of us are married anyway.

Those are the famous last words. I mean what's the worst that can happen with a little liquid courage.

....and firearms.

Especially if these other guys aren't familiar with said firearms.

You might as well just look into one of those canned pig hunts and stay in a cabin on their property. I did one for a bachelor party a few years ago NW of Austin for $350 or so. That included a 2 night stay and up to 4 hogs per person. Those type places are set-up for groups like yours and bachelor parties are a normal occurrence.

I think we have a winner.

Or ... I hear this dude owns a ranch and likes hosting guys having fun ...

Let me check the place and I'm not sure it fits the $500 per man budget but a guy I work with and his buddies have an annual guys weekend at someplace near Bandera where they do nothing but drink, play cards or dominoes, and shoot a lot of guns and the place is set up with multiple target ranges.

We had a guy bait in a smaller gator (bought 5') in a small pond in south Texas then strip down to just his drawers while we shined a spotlight on it and called it to within 3 feet. He then tried to jump on top and catch it, but got scared when it turned and blew up as he touched it. Looking back it probably wasn't the greatest idea, but damn, we still laugh about it to this day.

Great point!

Looking into those other options mentioned. As I think I mentioned earlier our funds have been limited by most people having to get airfare also...

And thank you regulators for the obligatory comment about firearms/booze/and famous last words.

We have a place near Llano that we have hosted a bachelor party this year but don't think it would accommodate 15 guys. I think they had 8-9, it was a little tight but workable. They used our covered range and brought skeet thrower so they could use shotguns. I think they only got 1 or two pigs though. It just was a slow weekend . Got the groom within maybe 50 yards of a big boar, he could see it with thermal viewer but it was gone when he brought the NV weapon up (downwind).

A few things to consider...it's going to b difficult to try to get everybody to go hunt pigs at night at the same time. Probably not very safe to attempt it. We have 8 or so blinds that you could use for afternoon or morning hunt.We had to take 3-4 guys at a time, kind of take turns a little for th night hunt.. Had to limit the number of weapons and make sure rules were clear on where they could b pointed, who could shoot where etc. These guys did good job of not getting too inebriated prior to hunt and took good care of the place. Bunch of good Ags (I'm class of '84). I felt good enough about them I lent them a few rifles and NV equipment on one night. If your crowd gets smaller let me know.

To each his own, but that sounds like the worst bachelor party. It sounds like fun..I do it at least 3 times per year, but it doesn't sound like a bachelor party.

The most fun bachelor party i've been to was pretty much what he's looking for. It helped that the father of the bride has a 3500 acre place
