What are they supposed to do? What do they actually do?

There several types of deer blocks.... Which one are you looking to use?

Are you going to use it as the only attractant or will it be used as a supplement to a feeder or baited area?

I assume you mean a mineral block?

Deer will definitely use them but they use them mostly in the spring/summer. They're not usually a big "attractant" per se.

We have a mineral block area in which we've placed a mineral block for over 20 years. The ground is literally saturated with residual mineral block.

Our deer have always utilized it year-round to some extent, but I would never rely on one as a luring mechanism.

Mineral blocks (like a trace mineral block) yes

The "deer" blocks, no

Think about the anatomy of a deers mouth. It's is a coon and possum block
