Been thinking about purchasing a utv for my family of 3 for a long time now...I have been eyeing the viking and wonder if anyone had insight or experience with a viking? Possibly a hookup on purchasing one?

Also ran across this new Intimidator line of utvs, but I don't know anything about that company which worries me. Anyone know anything about them?

Intimidator is an offshoot company of Bad Boy mowers. Bad Boy carries a pretty good reputation, but the UTV market is tough to break into. I'm looking at buying an 800 cc Intimidator crew cab, and I went and looked at it today. To my untrained eye, it's a good looking, well-built machine. The seats are very cushioned and nice compared some of the other seats I've sat in.

I looked at both the Yamaha and the Intimidator before I purchased a Kubota RTX1140. I wouldn't go back, granted I needed more of a workhorse but it is a nice "cruiser" also

I had the same impression from the pictures. I need to go look at one and test drive it. I like that it has hitch receivers, winch mounts and stepped up tires/wheels included in the base model.

Have the suspensions gotten betrer on the Kubotas? My uncle has an older one and it will beat the tar out of you.

At work, our field crews use utvs daily.

Most of the guys fight over the wolverines, while the losers have to take the viking.
Maybe its just our viking but most of the guys dont like it as much as the wolverine.

I havent driven an older one so I really cant compare but the one that I have (2014?) Has a decent ride, our drive is 1100' of slightly rutted white rock and it does pretty well on it. I also have a Kubota BX2670 and that thing will rock the teeth out of your head so compared to the tractor, the UTV is pretty smooth. When I was researching I did come across various message boards that talked about the rough suspension but there were many posts of people with newer ones that said the suspension was better.

Is that because they are faster and less of a boat? Or is there a functional reason why they prefer the wolverine?

My father-in-law purchased one last year for the farm and hates it. It's the 4door model, its wide, heavy, and lacks power. It's almost as wide as my tacoma hunting truck. I also work for a oil/natural gas pipeline company and we use UTV's daily for field work and maintenance on pipeline row's and we have ran all different brands. From Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, to Polaris and out of all of them I would have to say the Polaris Ranger has been the overall best one. It's durable, has plenty of power on both models, and comfortable ride. Or you could always find you a used Yamaha Rhino, thats what I did and they're as tough as a tank.

Well I bought the Intimidator yesterday and after riding around the neighborhood for a while, I really like it. It's a very good looking vehicle and it rides nice. Plenty of power in the 800cc gas engine, soft seats and fits six comfortably. I'll try to get some pics.

The only complaint I have is that the radiator in the front blows hot air into the dash area which heats up the cup holders and drafts into the driver's seat area. I'll fix that with some heat shield in the front compartment.

Are you by chance in the Woodlands?

No. I'm over in Huffman. Bought it from STOP Equipment in Conroe off 3083. They also have a store on 1488 in Magnolia.

Six months later....any regrets? Anything you like more or less now that you've had your Intimidator for awhile?

No regrets so far. We aren't driving it real hard as it's more of a neighborhood vehicle. It has been on some trails and handled some mud well.

The only real frustration was the first time I changed the old. Looked like heck for the oil filter and couldn't find it. Finally called the dealership to ask and found out that it's a canister filter that fits into a housing.

The engine is a CanAm engine.
