Does anybody know some good places in Houston to go shoot sporting clays that don't require a membership, other than The American Shooting Center? I am hoping to take a group of guys to go shoot sporting clays before my wedding. I have been to ASC a few times and was hoping there might be some nicer options out there that would not require me to become a member first.

If you don't mind a little drive, there's also Creekwood Shooting Sports up in Conroe. You don't have to be a member to play a round.

Went up there for the first time about a month ago and the clays course runs thru tree cover, with good variety of stations.

American shooting centers won't be open until the end of May at the earliest. As of a week ago they still had too much water and we're trying to assess damage done. They posted a pic on Facebook last week. It was crazy.

The city of Texas city gun range had a nice set up. I know the rifle and pistol ranges open to the public but not sure how the skeet range operates for the public. I have shot there for a charity event.

Try Texas Premier Sporting Arms in Sealy. Brand new place that is going to be private but I believe they are open to the public while they get up and going.

I haven't been out there but a friend of mine is scoping it out for a company shoot and says it is legit. I would call first before showing up and make sure they'll let you shoot.

There is a spot down in League City off of 646. Only used the rifle range, but they have some skeet and trap on the property.

It's not to hard to find a member to hook you up at Greater Houston. I bet you already know a member. It's a great facility. Go on wed to cook them some steaksand drink afterwards.

Trust me y'all will have a much better time there than anywhere else. I'm on the waiting list or I would help you out.

I drove by on Monday and ASC is still a lake. That place does not drain quickly. Westheimer Pwky is open thru the reservoir going east & west, but Barker Cypress is still under a couple feet.

There are two courses on the west side of Conroe open to the public that are pretty nice.

+1 for Creekwood... very nice. Another good option (also in Conroe) is Gun Emporium. Their clays course is almost entirely in the woods. I was there with a client about 2 months ago and it was in great shape... I may like it better than Creekwood.
