We have one day at port. Things to do or places to go/eat? Any of the Carnival cruise excursions worth a damn? I like winging it.

quote:I think this is valid if you're going somewhere far away, like Mayan ruins, but if you are a 20 minute cab ride from the boat you would have to really be waiting till last minute to miss that boat.
One reason we booked thru Carnival is if it's one of their excursions, and you run late to the boat, they'll hold the boat for you. If you book on your own and you're late, you're screwed. They will leave you. One tidbit of advice... Be either first or last for the line to get back on the boat. Or take an umbrella to shade you. No shade in an hour long line is brutal.

quote:Came here to mention Chankanaab. Been several times (though the last time was probably 7 years ago), and it's awesome. Also went to Paradise Beach, which was super kick ass. But Chankanaab is an easy recommendation - no matter what you like to do, you'll dig it.
Go to Chankanaab State Park. Snorkel with fishes and the big statue of Christ Redeemer underwater. Beautiful place.
