My fees went up CONSIDERABLY, and I'm just a non-commercial/political holder. The sick thing is, I have to have more CEUs than farmers do, and I rarely use it.

Ag Commissioner Sid Miller raised the fees on almost everything the Ag department oversees!

Non-commercial fees also went up. It would have been nice to have been given a notice of the fee changes.

Sounds like a great conservative who believes in smaller government. Need to hold these dudes accountable, in my opinion...

Well.....the price has not changed in years, and expenses HAVE gone up, but a notice would have been nice.....

How much was the political subdivision license before the price changes?

Regular non-commercial only went up $20 per year, seems reasonable.

Mine was renewed November 2013.... expires November 2018.

They guy issuing at that time (2013) told us that the fees for everything involved were all going up.

I guess they will always go up. I am sure there are some hippie type organic naturalists that hate the word pesticide in general and would not care if they became illegal, until the results affected their life.

If you are shocked by that, if the EPA gets their way, your CEU requirements will increase from 5/year to about 25/year. They are taking public comments now.
I think both fee and CEU increases are going to backfire on them eventually. Pesticide users will drop their licenses and education will suffer, leading to an increase in violations.

I have my commercial applicators license for ag and my commercial prescribed burn managers license. Haven't seen the new fees for applicators but the fire license jumped from $50 to $500 three to four years ago and it has caused a huge drop in folks renewing. Hopefully the applicators license doesn't go up at that same rate.

I do. All fees to TDA went up this past year. I paid (before I sold my business), Organic Certification, PACA, Nursery/Floral. All went up considerably.

The private/agriculture applicator license went up to $100 this year. Not sure what it was 5 years ago.

How hard is it to get a commercial applicator license without any experience? I might have an opportunity to become an owner of small side business. I understand you have to take the exam and I've read the requirements but my degrees (engineering) aren't one of the ones a listed on the webpage.
