An earlier thread about holsters where we all complained about the size of our holster box reminded me that I wanted to post about a holster I tried recently.
It's bad enough buying a bunch of different holsters for each gun, but when you add in wanting a holster that can carry a handgun+a weapon mounted light, the options go down, the prices go up, and worst of all if you want one for multiple guns you have to buy yet another round of holsters.
Enter the X-Fer, from Armordillo Concealment.
It's an IWB minimalist option, designed to attach to the light itself and not the trigger guard, which means as long as you're using the same type of light, you can use one holster to carry different handguns. Concept is intriguing and price was reasonable enough at $60, so I decided to try one out.
First, some pictures:
The holster:
The problem it is meant to solve....Too many handguns, not enough holsters. All can accept a WML, but then you need 5 different holsters....on top of 5 more hoslters if you ever want to carry any of them without a light.
So how does it work? Pretty well. If you're not a fan of single loop minimalist style IWB holsters you might not like it much, but I've used Raven's VG2 to carry Glocks quite a bit and like the method. The holster attaches securely to the light itself, and I've never had any retention issues while carrying. It works for pretty much every gun I've tried it on. Full size, compact, Glocks, Sigs, CZs, M&Ps, whatever. It's incredibly nice having one holster that can allow you to carry so many different guns. They make it for both the TLR-1 and Surefire X200/X300 lights.
If you're looking for a WML capable holster, ever carry more than one type of gun and are looking for a good IWB option, consider checking them out. I've been very happy with my purchase.
