I have 4 or 5 dozen frozen tamales. What is the best way to reheat them? I'd like to serve for dinner this evening, so I have a couple hours to get it done.

For a few, I wrap in wet paper towel and microwave. Should I try that? Work it in batches of 6 or so?

Cover and throw in the oven for awhile?

Don't have a good steamer.

Make a Double pot steamer (one atop another) with the top pot covered or defrost setting in microwave - assuming still in husk no need to wrap if you defrost with low heat

Weve been running thru tamales since last week

Put a little water in crock pot and set them inside it, but on a rack or some riggin where they are actually out of the water. Set it and forget it.

How are they packaged right now? Any chance they're in a food saver bag?

I let them thaw and then reheat in microwave like you mentioned.

I hate microwaving tamales...ruins the texture - can make them chewy...

If you have time, break them up in groups of 6-9, wrap them up in damp paper towel, put them in a casserole dish with some water in the bottom and cover with foil. Put in over for an hour or so until they are hot.

Much better than microwaving - and they will stay warmer in the casserole dish while being served/eaten.

I've done this method many times over the years to bring 4-5 dozen hot tamales to a jobsite using a deep aluminum pan instead of the casserole dish.

Microwave with damp paper towels works well, as does steaming them. Key is keeping moisture in them so they don't dry out.

Get a small pot and fill half way w/ water, and a larger colander to set on top. Bring to boil and back off, put tamales in the colander and cover by putting the top of the smaller pot on it. Just check on it a couple of times as it won't take long. Have done this many times w/ frozen tamales and it works well.

Be a Man and eat them like a popsicle.

If not, microwave works, just cover with paper towel and don't nuke it.

These little bamboo steamer baskets come in pretty handy.
Just set on top of a pot of boiling water, works great for tamales.

Jesus Christ...you act like this is some sort of high dollar cuisine.

Throw the f-er on a plate and toss in the microwave for 3 minutes until its not cold any more.

Put half in a big casserole dish with a little water, covered in foil, threw in oven at 350F.

Put the other half in a crockpot with a rack, little water in the bottom, set on high.

45 minutes later, both sers were still icy cold.

Plan B: wrapped in wet paper towel and microwaved, 8 at a time. Came out great.

Have to agree.

If I have reheat more than three. I use a steamer. If I am warming a few for me I personly warm them is a cast iron pan wrapped in the husks.
