Surprised we don't have a thread on it yet, especially after the not so covert hints that our useless leader dropped in his speech today.

I would expect a new push for "reasonable" restrictions on firearms (which we all know that means a push to ban what can be banned in the Dem world), and likely another run on ammo and components as a result.

Bad deal all around; this kid sounds like he is completely effed in the head and is just an evil sumbeech given his actions. I mean damn, the dude sat in church for an hour before killing those people. That is beyond messed up.

NO LAW can eradicate that kind of evil and prevent tragedies like this from happening. Absolutely disgusting.....

And yes, I believe you'll see another knee jerk ammo run.

Awful deal. So sad for those folks affected.

The President's remarks today we're nauseatingly disgraceful. Even for him. Clearly no "reasonable" gun control laws could have prevented this POS from doing east he did.

He's trying to turn gun control into a race issue.

Kid and his parents are racists

Should have nothing to do with gun control

His dad is also likely to spend 10 in the pokey and a $250k fine for knowingly buying a firearm for somebody that was not legally allowed to own one.

Another mark in the column for mass murderers that just looking ****ing psycho. Why do they all have the same jacked up look? If this kid was standing on a mountain five miles away, I could have told you he's a mental nutjob with my bare eyes. Looks like Adam Lanza's twin.

What type of gun was used?
MattTheBrave

Probably a fully automatic assault rifle bushmaster ak-47.

The exact same kind of gun the military uses.

Very sad. Now my wife understands why I take my concealed weapon to church. We need more responsible sheep dogs in this country.

My wife has asked me to start carrying at church.

Sadly I have thought about this scenario going down at my church. But I attend a cowboy church & I'm pretty sure there are more people carrying there that aren't.

Gun control has always been about race. Usually about trying to keep guns away from Blacks, to preserve the white establishment. And always done by Democrats.

Spot on schmellba. And on a related topic, who in their right mind would allow a relative with obvious mental/emotional issues to have a gun? First it was Adam Lanza's mother and now this idiot's father (who must be an idiot as well) gifted him a .45 on his 21st birthday. I suspect that the SC shooter's dad is a real piece of work as well. And yes, I am having a hard time coming up with a cold blooded scenario colder than praying with a group for an hour in a church and then murdering them. That guy is all kinds of F'ed up.

It will also be interesting to see if he was a member of a white supremacy group. Having kept up on the Aryan nations weirdos that infested northern Idaho (and still do to some extent) he would fit right in. Their recruiting strategy was to target guys on the margins of society: unemployed, bitter, aimless,...basically losers. Then the group gives these nitwits a sense of belonging and "love", much like religious cults work. He would be the perfect target for recruitment. And by the way, the militia movement in large part is the Aryan nations in concept, whitewashed (no pun intended) with different PR. I would bet he is either a member of some white power group or had an extensive online relationship with such groups.

I'll go ahead and jump on in. From the reports I've heard (not much has been officially released yet) claim that the shooter reloaded multiple times (3+). He also was with the prayer meeting for an hour before he finally opened fire.

Thoughts and prayers for all involved, and thoughts and prayers for members of my congregation. We have had some thefts at our facility and our leaders have ramped up guards accordingly. I spotted 2 guards on our pastor at the beginning of service a few weeks ago and I can see this to become the "norm" everywhere.

History of mental health maybe? He had a drug charge but hadn't been convicted.

+1
We've had some thefts at our church also. Not all of our doors are unlocked anymore. I know that we have uniformed off duty police officers at our services. We even had a practice evacuation of our sanctuary after one service a few weeks ago.

He was/is under indictment for some drug charges. ATF Form 4473, Question 12b (one could probably also add 12e as well) precludes anybody that is currently under indictment for a felony from purchasing a firearm. His dad gave him the firearm after he had been indicted by the local police.

He had also been banned from the local mall because he freaked a few people out by asking some very detailed questions about work schedules, who worked where, etc. He violated that ban and was arrested for tresspassing.

quote:

Previous arrestIn February, Roof unnerved employees working at the Columbiana Centre shopping mall in Columbia, S.C., by asking what they told police were
unusual questions about staffing levels.A patrolling police officer was called over. Roof, becoming increasingly nervous, told him "his parents were pressuring him to get a
job," according to a Columbia Police Department incident report.Roof sported a jacket with flags from apartheid-era South Africa (top) and Rhodesia, which is now Zimbabwe, on it. (Facebook)The officer asked to search him and found an unlabeled bottle filled with
strips of buprenorphine, an opioid painkiller that is sometimes misused
by people addicted to opioid drugs, which include a range of substances
from heroin to oxycodone. The incident report said Roof tried to pass them off as breath-freshening strips before admitting that a friend had given the
prescription-only drug to him, and the officer arrested him for
possession of a controlled substance. The case appeared to still be
pending, according to county court records.Columbiana Centre banned Roof for a year, but two months later, police were called to the mall again. Roof, described as 1.75
metres tall and weighing 120 lbs, was arrested in the parking lot for
trespassing. His car was turned over to his mother, and the mall
increased the ban to three years.

I have to be quite honest, if there ever was a case that the full extent of the gun laws on the books needed to be executed on, it's this one. If this guy was charged with a felony in February and his father gave him a gun in April, then his father needs to be prosecuted to the full extent of giving a felon a gun.

Until those types of laws that already exists for the very reason to prevent crimes like this are enforced, this will never change, and law abiding gun owners like most of us here will continue to have to fight this stupid battle to keep our Constitutional rights.

I believe the biggest asylum is in Washington DC, seeing the state of affairs with the US.
Funny you can send a perfectly sane individual to the asylum and they nearly all go crazy.

mts6175 and agsalaska are both dead on. If the father did indeed buy his son a gun after his felony arrest then throw the book at him. People beootch about gun control laws (me too sometimes) but the prohibition of felons, crazy people and drug addicts from buying firearms is reasonable...this incident is a perfect example of why. Enforce the existing law. There should be consequences for supplying a firearm to a guy under indictment for a felony that has obvious mental/emotional issues. So much fail.

This needs to happen. And honestly, if he isn't prosecuted for this, then it invalidates any future gun control initiative out there. If you won't enforce the laws on the books now, what reason is there for anyone to follow future ones in regards to guns?

Indictment? or guilt?

Indictment prevents you from lawfully being able to purchase a firearm - doesn't have to be a guilty verdict or conviction.
