Moved to New Braunfels awhile ago and want to start taking my daughter fishing. Don't have a boat so it will be bank fishing. Anyone have any tips for Catfish and bass on the Guadalupe and maybe some good spots. I'll set her up to catch some perch.

The Guadalupe bass are typically very aggressive and a lot of fun to catch although not real big. I've thrown Texas-rigged worms and done well.

The best spot on the Guad is where the tubers aren't. Cypress Bend Park is my go to spot. It's behind the library off of Common. The farthest part of the park upriver is the last public exit, so after that no tubers. Plenty of shoreline after that. I fly fish so I wouldn't have any conventional tackle tips. I take my boys and just throw a worm and bobber on for them. We have had luck in the past at Landa Park. I know it's under construction now and not sure what's accessible, haven't been in a while. This weekend they are opening a new park, Fischer Park that has a small lake that is stocked. That should be pretty family friendly. But my boys love our secret honey hole. A spring fed creek that feeds the Comal. This past weekend we caught several perch, a few small bass and a catfish, all on worms. Took them one night last week and caught a four pound bass. I've never seen anyone else fishing there so don't want to give it away, but find the New Braunfels Smoke House, park there and walk down the hill. Good Luck!

One of my favorite stretches to fish in the Guad below canyon is EXACTLY where the tubers are. The horseshoe to ponderosa crossing is a trout hotspot in the summers. Sure it sucks, and I hate drunkards, but the trout and smallies are there.
