getting more and more into wood working now and theres saw dust every where. I imagine I'd also use it to clean out my truck and the dryer.

Would a 9 gallon 4 Peak HP vacuum do the job or should i upgrade to the next tier of 12 gallon @ 5.5 Peak HP?

TIA

I have a 12 gallon and it does just fine. I have attachments on most all my tools except my bandsaw and it does a good job.

This is the unit you want:

Ridgid at Home Depot

Ridgid units blow Shop Vacs away. I've had them both.

Whichever brand you get, make sure you get a model with the larger diameter hose and and attachments. If you buy one with a hose less than 2" in diameter, you'll forever be unclogging it and fishing out debris that the larger 2"+ diameter hoses just gobble up.

Sawdust will quickly clog any shop vac filter without regular cleanings. If you're using for woodworking I would recommend a dust cyclone. There are a lot of different options from really expensive to homemade but it's basically a two stage dust separator that keeps the sawdust from getting to the filter.
