I already own a Honda EU2000, but it's not enough to power all that much when the power goes out at the house.

What do you guys think of this? Junk or okay? Advantage of running off propane as well as gas, and only 69 decibels. But if it's junk, it's junk. On the other hand it's only $300 and I would be using it only very rarely.

Retails on amazon for a lot more than this and has decent reviews there.

I don't have any input on the genset in question above, but wanted to offer a quick word of caution on noise levels published by equipment manufacturers: always look closely at what distance the dBA levels are measured. A good rule of thumb is that the sound will decrease by 6 dBA when the distance from the source doubles.

The unit mentioned above lists 69 dBA, and if you dig deeper you find that's measured at 7m. The EU2000 literature claims 53-59 dBA measured at only 3m.

So the EU2000 would measure (conservatively) at closer to 47-53 dBA at the 7m distance, which is significantly quieter than the Duromax.

Again, no other other opinion to share, just wanted to throw out the noise thing for consideration.

Damn..that was a helluva deal. I hope this happens again. I'm not sure how to track these deals and keep an eye out but I sure hope if it pops up again someone posts it here. I'll jump all over it next time.
