Anyone have experience with getting a safe unbolted from the floor? We're moving this week and it sounds like my safe guy isn't going to be able to stop by in time to unbolt it for me. Is it simply a matter of a cheater bar and ratchet or will I need an impact wrench or something like that? I'm going to have to get it unbolted tomorrow so that the movers can load it Thursday.

Cheater Bar but lub the bolts.

They installed mine with red head concrete anchors. Nut and washer should be easy w/ ratchet and socket. Bigger issue is removing safe over the remaining anchors. Either lift off or remove anchor w/ a side grinder. Can shear off smooth with grinder once safe removed. Good luck.

I don't think he used the Red heads but I'm not sure - I'll go for the cheater bar, wasn't making much progress just with the ratchet this morning.

You would do yourself a favor by using a penetrating lube and soaking the nuts and exposed threads for a day or two before going ater them with a break bar and socket.

Thanks - I'll head to Home Depot early tomorrow, try to give it as much time as I can.

Ha - I thought about trying to bribe someone. Case of beer, anyone?

The company that installed my safe drilled the holes deeper than needed. I can remove nuts and washers and drive the bolt down flush with slab. Might want to give that a try.

When I moved my safe, I just took the nuts and washers off then tilted the safe up and slid 2x4's under it and then slide it wherever I wanted. It was easily a two person job though.

You should be able to remove the nuts and hammer the bolt deeper into the concrete.

Thanks for suggestions - hit it with some oil and then used a 18" breaker bar to get them moving. Looks like just two bolts with washers, we'll see what's underneath but at least the safe will move.
