I am looking into getting a 9mm 1911 and I think I have it narrowed down to the Spartan IV and the Range Officer. This will not be a carry gun, just some fun plinking and range time.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with both pistols?

I know, I know. I already have 2 1911 in .45 (Kimber Pro Carry & STI Ranger II). I was just looking for another 1911 that is a little cheaper to shoot

Beware of a parkerized finish.
Parkerizing provides great corrosion in resistance, but it wears and scratches very easily.
Krylon is probably more durable than parkerizing.

9mm 1911's are making a resurgence according to Hickok45. He just did a review on a custom Springfield I believe

I might have to do some more research on the Hi Power. I saw them ranging from $500 to over $1k on gun broker
