Any of yall have any experience with Dargel boats? Im looking at a 2008 Dargel Skout 210 with a Suzuki 140 4 stroke. Engine has 380 hours on it. I will be using it in upper laguna madre and baffin.

They run skinny, but they will beat the piss out of you in a chop. Wet boat, too. Spray will soak you.

scratch everything I had written there. I thought you were looking at a new boat.

My cousins fished off of that exact same boat for a number of years in the LLM and caught a ton of fish off of it. I think it's a very serviceable boat. In light of the previous post I should also note that they fished out of the Arroyo Colorado in around three islands. That is a lot different than fishing out of Baffin Bay.

Just came back to this thread to read the replies. Honestly im a little curios on what you edited out of your post

I was teasing that you need to lay all the BQ talk on them @ Dargel because the owner is a BQ too. Because it formulated my response before I fully read your post I didn't digest the 'previously owned' factor.

They're a solidly made boat that like tx4guns said will run skinny. Just don't stop because they're heavy as hell and don't float skinny.

Big, stable hull. Good for drifting deeper water and running to a spot to wade.

Its at the dargel distributer in los fresnos, which is real close to the Dargel facility in Donna, TX. I may need to stop by the facility first and meet him though. Can you PM me his email or something?

I didnt think 1350 lbs was heavy for a 21' boat

Considering I generally fish out of boats that are 18' and don't even weigh 1350 pounds (Dargel's bare hull weight) when they've got a full load of motor, men, gas, and gear yeah it's heavy.

Lots of folks fish them down here in the RGV. Not sure if they are wet as Tx4guns is saying, Buddy of mine I fish with regular has one and it's no wetter than the other buddies Shallow Sport of the same length. But then again, like CP said I'm fishing the LLM and it's not near as heavy here for the most part. My mentor has a 24' skout and its one the smoothest riding boats I've ever been on, but that's likely due to its size. If you're getting a good deal on it, I wouldn't be afraid to jump on it.

Our 20' Shallow Sport weighs #850 for comparison.

What would be a good deal for a 2008 21' Skout with a 2008 Suzuki 140 with 380 hours on it. Stereo system, Garmin GPS, Front and rear casting platforms, Power pole, aluminum trailer with spare tire, bimini top.

Motor just ran out of its warranty. But has been serviced with PM regularly

NADA is saying average retail is 19K

Right hand side bar, Cleve Ford. He's in the business of selling boats and his number's out there - so I can't imagine he'd mind me pointing it out. Hell, you may want to give him a call - who knows what kind of deal he'll make you.

Had a Dargel with same motor. Always dependable and never left me stranded, should have never sold it.

Great shallow water boat for the Laguna (Mansfield and South). I am not sure how it will handle the Baffin chop. You may have to pick your days in Baffin, but Dargel's are slick, dependable boats.

Talked to Cleve a while yesterday - I believe this thread was another 'TexAgs hookup' in a roundabout way. Enjoy the boat and be sure to post pics of all those fish.

Times change. When I moved to the valley after graduation they were a pretty popular boat. The one I remember was probably 18' maybe 19.'

They were wooden. The ones I remember had a closed bow and most of them had a hard top with pronounced side windows. There were three in the small hamlet I lived in. The owners would put in at Kratz's bait stand east of Riviera and make the perilous 6-7 mile run out to the Point of Rocks and anchor up. I fished under the lights in the south end of the Land Cut the first time after a twenty mile boat ride and waded over to Gladis my first morning. I was hooked.

Engine choice was two 50's.....don't leave without two engines.

Dargel used to build a small scooter when most scooters were still being built out of plywood in people's garages. I would have been too young to be certain but I'd bet they were probably some of the first commercial scooters available. Still see some today and they still build the 13 footer.

Of course everyone puts steering on them now. Back then the console had a big Ol grab handle on it and you just leaned the way you wanted to go.

Dargel folks are good people.

I built one in my garage. It was a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

The deck was a 4x8 sheet of plywood(marine grade ) The bottom took a little extra. Redwood nose, sides(6") , stern and transom. I filled the void with styrofoam, fiber glassed the seams and glassed the entire boat in bright yellow including the console.

The coup de gras was the liberal sprinkling of 10-20 frac sand onto the wet glass. The first boat I owned with a skid free deck.

Used 9.5 hp Evinrude with a little tightning of the steering column and I was in the flats. A little lean will do it.

I drug it out behind some sand dunes in the land cut when I left and hauled the motor back and forth. It lasted about five years and no one ever knew it was there. Now it would be a big yellow rectangle on Google Earth.

Hmmmm......I think I'll go take a peak.

Thanks for the bump Centerpole!! I completely forgot to give everyone an update. Cleve absolutely hooked me up with the 2008 Skout 210. I found out that Cleve was also in A-Battery, and he gave me an additional discount for not being in A-Company or B-Company haha.

It has about 350 hours on the engine and runs great. With the Suzuki 140, I go about 32mph at 4500rpm. I havent pushed it to WOT yet. It is a very smooth riding boat and all my friends complement it on the 8' 6" beam length. There is a ton of fishable space on this rig and noone is ever uncomfortable. It has front and rear casting platforms, a powerpole, and 4 JL Audio speakers that really bust out the tunes. I've already ran it super skinny, and I'm sure with more experience I will be able to get even shallower.

The weather hasnt cooperated much since I bought it, but we have caught fish everytime we took it out. I cant wait for the water to warm up a little to really start bringing in limits. I will post some pics of the boat tonight when I get home.

Once again, Thank you to Centerpole90, Cleve, Katson, and everyone else at Dargel Boats. Amazing people, building amazing products.
