I don't know what best for the money means but Rigid is very good.

I got an LED light from Northern Tool for about $60 that I put on a Golf Cart and it works great. They have light bars for $150 to $250. It looks like tractor supply carries basically the same ones if that is more convenient.

They are probably not as good as the $1000+ ones used for desert racing, but then again they are not $1000

Compare them based on wattage and lumens

I'm starting to see more and more people put them on their trucks. Seems pretty easy to steal.

They are wired in with a basic little pigtail and mounted with 2 bolts that are very easy to reach

Plash Lights. They have various sizes and brightness. The "XX" are the best.

I have a lot of their bars, they have everything, quality is super high and they stand behind their products. They had a failure percent that was less than one and even with the failure it wouldn't kill the bar. But that was too much and they issued a recall and didn't charge anything for shipping or fixing.

I have 2 of their race quality bars, 2 standard, and 2 small flood. The optics also make the difference, the work they put into the beam pattern separates them from the others. I can see clearly for a half mile plus down the road.

They have some sales going on because they are releasing some newer versions.

I have a couple of Rigid light bars that are really good, but they're also really expensive. I have a 30" E-series mounted on my front bumper and a 10" SR series mounted on my headache rack facing the rear. If I'm driving dark roads at night I hardly ever use my high beams. I just turn on the LED. The only thing I don't like about them is the reflection that comes back at you from signs.

I've heard good things about Baja Designs but I have no experience with them.

I cannot recommend my Seelite highly enough. They are for boats and this application but a lot of guys use it on their trucks as well. Have a bunch of options.

My 30" light bar is on the front of my boat for navigating the bay's duck hunting. I can see a 100 yards no problem. Easy installation and has handled the beating. I think they are $330

One of the guys on Pirate4x4 runs it, everyone seems pretty happy with them and the quality of the lights.

I'll be buying the 30" soon.

One more note:

Look at what you want the lights for, the beam pattern means a lot. More than the lumens (which is also misleading on a bunch of the sites because it is produced not emitted - basically the diodes will produce X but because of the optics set up they will only emit a percentage of X)

As far as the bars on my truck go on the front I have 2 spots (10deg beam with 80% of emitted light) and 2 wide/cornering (ovalish beam that is 50-60deg by 20-30deg) this is perfect for fast running at night, I get really good fill as well as being able to clearly see a 1/2 mile plus in front of the truck, all in all it I have 26,000 lumens roughly of emitted light, but also it cost about 2k.

However for my headache rack in the back I have 2 flood lights (4800 lumen a piece) perfect for getting a lot of useable not blinding light, they were also only 3"x3" square so very small package. the other nice thing is they are cheap (200is bucks a piece) so a couple in different beam patterns in really easy and can give you the exact light coverage you want.

All of these were from Baja Designs, if you wait a little they might have some good deals coming up for the holidays as well.

I get mine from here...

The guy is out of Katy and his stuff is more than reasonable on the prices and he has a great product. Very helpful and a nice guy.

I got a 50 and some pods for my Heep from him and they really light up the night.

How hard are they to wire? Never done anything like this before. I want to use a rocker switch spot that is not in use. Do they wire direct to the battery or through the fuse box?

they pretty easy if they come with a wiring harness. find a place for the switch, mount it, find a place for the harness, secure that, then wire to the battery and ground to the chassis if necessary.

if they don't have a harness, it's more difficult. just tried and failed to cobble my own harness on some accessory lights that didn't come with one; had to order a harness specific to a particular brand via interwebs.
