Looking to buy a Surefire for EDC and am curious what the best one is for that purpose?

TIA

For EDC I would say their Stylus series of lights. They use AAA's and not some proprietary sized battery. The last time I looked there are models that go up to 70 lumens however depending on how you plan to use the light you might want a lower power/longer lasting light.

My bad I thought you said Streamlight, not Surefire. In any case that Stylus is a good light that you should take into consideration.

I have a Stylus Pro from Streamlight that is a nice little light that's only a little bigger than a ballpoint pen and bright for its size. And that's what I carry most days.

I also have a Surefire E2D "Executive Defender", and it kicks ass. I hate having the special batteries for it but if I had to depend on one light that would be my go-to. Of course I've never beat on it to test its durability, so this is just speculation, but it appears that you could punish that light and still have it hold up. And the strike bezel is super tacticool.

I've got the P2X Fury Defender and love it. Thing is built like a tank and I would definitely my life in it. 500 lumen rating is great

I'm looking at the LX2 Lumamax...is there anything comparable that's better?

I have carried a Surefire EB1 with the "tactical" switch for several years and have been very pleased with it. It is very easy for me to carry in kahkis, dress pants, or jeans and doesn't interfere with the use of the pocket. It also doesn't fall out. Battery life is also excellent. I can also easily use the light with a handgun. If I were to lose/break this one I would buy another just like it.

I initially purchased the Surfire LX2 but I found the light to be too large (both length and diameter) to easily carry. I also prefer the ergos of the EB1. Plus the LX2 pocket clip would break every few weeks. I was not HALO dropping into Durkistan, the dang thing would just break in the same place from everyday use, mostly from getting sprung by the seatbelt. Surefire would send a replacement clip for free but it was really annoying.

I also have an EL Outdoorsman and I much prefer the EB1 as the EL was difficult to carry in pocket.

I also prefer the "tactical" switch to the "clicky" switch.

I'm not a flashlight nut like some and haven't tried every light made but based on my experience I cannot recommend the EB1 enough. Here's mine:

Look at the new Estrela light...just ordered mine yesterday. It's made by Night Reaper.

I have heard horrible things about the LX2 clip, but apparently there is a replacement clip that works well. Might have to check out the EB1

I have a bunch of Surefire lights -- in my car, next to my bed, in a Kitchen drawer, and near the front door. But the light I carry (when I carry) is a Fenix PD22. Its small (half the size of a Surefire 6P), has the click on (or hold, as you wish), and a good clip for pocket carry. Its appears to be as good at lighting as my Z2.

+1 to the Fenix. I have the PD32.

I used to be a Surefire fan but the cost of batteries changed my mind.

I have a Fenix LD12 that I use with a rechargeable AA. Awesome light for $50.

I use an earlier, 110 lumen version of the surefire backup. It's a good light, I just wish mine had come with the tactical switch.

ETA: it was my backup light when I was a cop, used for little things like searching the back of my car before and after shift or after someone had taken a ride, got dropped on pavement and generally knocked around, and still functions fine 3 years later.

I still like my Surefire G2 LED, but I'm a Fenix convert as well.
They are high quality and much less than Surefire.
I have a Fenix E01 for EDC and a Fenix E21 for the night stand.
I've noticed places like Carters Country and REI now have Fenix displays instead of Surefire displays.

If you want a quality EDC light, you have to get rechargeable batteries. I carry an Olight S10 Baton (XM-L2 LED) and rotate a pair of EagleTac 750mAh 16340's. I can type up a short review if anyone wants.
