OB related because my home and auto are where my outdoors toys are stored and transported.

Have decided it is time to re-evaluate insurance needs. Wanted to query the OB and see who y'all used for insurance and your satisfaction? How are they with firearms? Would you recommend?

Currently have State Farm, but open to all options right now.

In before Bryan at Liere. Really, just call Liere. Saved me $1800/yr.

USAA

We got quotes last year from 2 different companies who assured us they could beat USAA's numbers if we gave them a chance. They were not even close.

USAA. they are legit. I have use them for 15 years, and they have always been above reproach. No one can touch them.

We have USAA for auto insurance and homeowner's on our current home and we love them but I quoted them on the home we're buying and they were almost double some of the other quotes we got. I'm going to keep USAA for auto and go Nationwide for homeowner's.

+1 on the split. USAA was not even in the same ballpark on my home owners insurance from another lender

I like USAA but they really jacked up our costs this last year and were totally unconcerned with our objections. Even my sister who retired from USAA switched to a cheaper carrier.

As an agent, would live to give you a quote from Farm Bureau.

I have Farm Bureau.

I just have whatever is required plus uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, both with higher limits than normal for about $127 for six months + $1 for "automobile burglary and theft prevention authority".

The last time I talked to the agent, she told me that she hadn't seen insurance that low in years.

Threads like this always make me chuckle at certain posts. Recommendations are good and provide a starting point, but no company is going to be the cheapest for everyone. So when people say this or that company can't be touched, well, yes they probably can. All companies can be beat somewhere. There are so many factors in rating that are specific to each individual's situation that you just need to shop around to get a feel for it, if price is your main issue. Your credit, location, claims history, size of your house, year it was built, type of coverage you want, etc, all impact your home insurance rate. Same with auto. Credit, driving history, age, vehicles, location, coverages, those all combine to make a price for you that may or may not line up with what you think you should pay. And each company handles all of those a little differently.

I'm not dogging on anyone who referred the OP to their company or on the OP for asking. Referrals are great and very important for both buyers and sellers. Just kind of chuckling at the idea that some companies can't be beat or something. Maybe they couldn't be beat for your situation (although maybe they could had you kept shopping around...) but that same company might be at the crazy high end of the cost spectrum for someone else.

About all I can say I know for sure is that in central Texas right now, if you have State Farm for your house, you are paying too much. :-)

We state farm for a long time and switched to USAA for our auto and renter. State Farm was better on the home insurance.

As an independent agent that quotes multiple companies daily, watty is dead on. No single company is going to be better than another. It varies for each person and their needs. You have a unique history, needs, budget, etc. Definitely worth looking into multiple companies. That being said, sometimes it is advantageous to split your home and auto, but in most cases it is best to bundle in order to garner the biggest discount.

My name is Bryan Massey '02 with Liere Insurance an Aggie owned, independent insurance agency that is a sponsor here on TexAgs. We represent over 100 insurance companies that we are able to shop your policy among and place you with the company that gives you the best combination of price and coverage.

As many TexAgs users can attest (thank you Cadet, MNeisch and Crossbow), we are often able to save people hundreds, in some cases thousands of dollars a year on their insurance while providing the same or better coverage as what they had. I would love the opportunity to earn your business.

Please give me a call at 855-776-2300 or email me a number where you can be reached and I will be more than happy to call you. My email is bmassey@myliere.com. I'll look forward to hearing from you.

I can never understand how people will shop quality in cars, boats, guns, etc but when it comes to their home insurance they just look at the price. 10 years ago all policies were about the same. Now, most are different...the ones that save you so much money might not have water coverage, sewer backup, replacement coverage on roofs, or coverage for that oak tree that falls on your home.
Be smarter and be careful and don't just look at the $$$

We have our's through Ag Workers. My mom works in insurance and I've asked her on multiple occasions to see what she could quote me at, and she can never get anywhere close to our rates.

We use farm bureau for auto and renters. When we owed a home, we started out with them but switched using Liere. I sent the paperwork for Liere to my FB agent and told he to convince me to stay. He couldn't. Instill use him for auto because I value the service I get from him. It's worth the extra $10 I spend a month.

you better check out things better. depending on which policy encompass has sold you...and it is just another name for Allstate, you could have no replacement cost on your dwelling, no water coverage. This stuff is "regulated" by the state but the state now says anything goes...

I'm with liberty mutual right now. They were the cheapest a year ago when I bought this house. I'm very interested in the differences in coverage after all these posts. Is that link a good place to look?

Thanks for the recommendation RedAgs06!

Towns -

The link that dlance posted is a great resource for comparing home insurance policies from different carriers. It allows you to do compare, side-by-side, policies from different companies. An agent can also help point out differences between policies to make sure that you are getting the coverage that is right for you.

At Liere Insurance we are all about finding our customers the best value for their insurance dollar. While we are often able to save our customers a substantial amount of money, finding them the best value does not mean the "cheapest possible policy". We help explain what the policy covers and guide the customer decide what coverage is right for them and their situation.

I own an insurance agency and have been reviewing these policies for 34 years. I have no dog in this fight. I would not insure you but I will tell you that you are not doing a correct comparison. for example both USAA and Encompas pay for mold if it is from a sudden and accidental leak. Also, the ENcompas policy is very vague about continous water leaks...you WILL be hung out if you have the shower pan leak for 4 months which is very common. You do not say which Encompas policy you have A, DELUXE, or ELITE. There are many other things you are missing but not enough time to write.
You get what you pay for!!...companies that charge 1000 more per year are not making that much money because they pay more at loss time. everyone pays about the same commission + or - 10% I would suggest you get a professional to review your policies...
