I'm heading to the Creede/ South Fork area this next week and would like to fish some out of the way streams. A little hiking is good if the water isn't in runoff mode. I appreciate any suggestions that are in this area.

See May 30 fishing report on Rio Grande Angler (Creede) web site. See Kevin at the shop for specific recommendations.

Miner's creek near Creede has some nice little fish. Adam's creek west of South Fork is also a nice little stream. If you follow the road to Platoro along Adam's Creek, you'll eventually get to Treasure creek. Amazing fishery but the runoff may be a little high right now.

Another thing, if you're willing to drive and have a jeep/atv check out pole creek. One of the head waters of the Rio Grande above the reservoir. Incredible fishing.

If you like catching Brookies in skinny water then I have recs for you.

Go to Rita Hondo Resevior and hike up the creek that feeds into the Resevior , Another spot is Rat Creek above Creede ( you need four wheel drive)

Finally it's a bit of a drive, but take the drive towards Lake City. Rambouillet Creek crosses the highway there and forms a little pool. Hike up the creek and you'll find lots of Brookies. My son and another boy limited in like 15 minutes last summer. Made for a nice cook out.

I appreciate the info. I realize I'm early but can't wait to be in the mountains. Just went through Alomosa.

Water will be high and probably pretty "froggy"! If you're fly fishing use nymphs a nd streamers. Spin fishing use a #O Gold Mepps( no buck tail). Have fun!

Bellows Creek. Pool Table road to Hansen's Mill. Park and hike less than 2 miles to Bellows. Lots of bookies.

Cebolla creek, go to top of Slumgullion Pass exit to the right at camp ground follow road and Cebolla creek basically stays with the road on right side. If you go on down the creek there are lots of places to fish. have caught lots of Browns there. If you catch a Rainbow it is usually a stocker. I have been fishing CO creeks many years and the very best lure that I have used is a Panther Martin in size 1. Use the solid black body and black blade with yellow dots. I guess they think it is some kind of black bug coming down the creek. Have fun and good luck!
