Inherited some great old knives from my Dad. Almost all were Eye Brand, and several had the yellow celluloid type handles, much like Case, Boker, and others.

One in particular had some worn spots on the handle, where some blackish color had been ingrained. I have seen similar on other knives that folks said they could not get out.

Tonight, at the suggestion of someone at work that fixes these kinds of things up, I used some mildly pumice hand cleaner, that removed about 50% of the discoloring. I was about to try some very mild shop abrasives, but remembered that my wifes use of the Mr. Clean eraser had a very mild abrasive result with no loss in shine on a couple of things she had worked with.

Well, got out the "magic eraser" and started buffing. It worked wonders. Knife handles looks almost new, and it still looks polished.

Maybe this will help someone before they do more damage than good.

Hope so.
