I'm in San Antonio and need a few more large tires for my gym to flip, hit, jump on, etc. Does anyone nearby have any that they want to get rid of or any suggestions on where I might find a few? Would love to haul them off for free if possible.

I finally got rid of one that was used as a planter in my backyard about a week ago. Would have been happy to give it you. Check Craigslist.

Check out some of the abandoned lots in the east or south side.

They can be hard to find - get to know the commercial tire services - and see if you can get them to call you when they replace one with a cut to the sidewall, rather than worn out tread.

What poundage are you looking for?

If you are willing to make a drive, A&A tire in Kerrville is a good potential source.

We used to get tire places to store their inventory at our strongman club, but I do not know what arrangements were made to get them to so that.

Any tire shop on the south side or west side will gladly give you what you want. They have to pay to discard them.

I know a place that has tires for vibroseis trucks. Probably gonna be a ***** to flip though.

This place fixes a ton of tractor tires. They are right on Hwy 90 as you enter Hondo from the east. If you want to drive that far, give them a call and I bet they will give you all you want.

I'm so old and out of shape that when I read the subject line my initial thought was that you were going to buy old tractor tires, fix them up, and then sell them.

No, they're actually just flipping the big ol buggers over, and over. IT's a hell of a workout, especially if you get a big ass 20" rim loader tire. Yeah, 20 inches WIDE, not diameter.

What do those usually weigh? I imagine you would also get pretty damn grimy flipping those as well.

I'd estimate the one in my yard was around 150 lbs, but it had a lot of sand in it so I don't know an actual weight.

Full size tractor tire like an 18.4-38 is around 300 pounds. Add tube and rim....

My senior year at A&M, the guys who lived next to us would have people come over at 5am to hit tractor tires with sledgehammers.

Note to OP: do not hit tractor tires with sledgehammers at 5am.
