Needing to put in a shed and am looking at something like Home Depot & Lowe's sell.

Anyone have one of these? Seem pretty decent for the money but I'm wondering about how sturdy they really are and how many years of use you can expect before they begin to deteriorate. Also if anyone has one do you have it on a cement slab? Cinder blocks?

I have the Arrow 10 x 12 shed from lowes. I have had it about a year. Seems decent for the price. Goes together easily. My only complaint is that I cannot for the life of me figure out how to stop it leaking. When we get a heavy rain I get water coming in around the floor. I have caulked the seams and spread roofing cement at the wall-floor junction. I think it is running down the door and getting in the door channel then flowing around the channel until it finds a way in.

That's interesting about the water getting in. We hit both Lowe's & HD yesterday and at both places a couple of the display sheds had water stains on the floor.

I don't remember the exact model, but we got a smaller one (8x10 ish) from Home Depot about 7 years ago. My friend and I built it and it's still holding strong, no leaking issues. Part of it is on the ground, the other side on outdoor tiles to level it out. In hindsight, partially burying cinder blocks at the corners would probably have been plenty.

Why not go with a Mueller DIY kit? All steel construction, and built to last, while being priced very reasonably.

We're remodeling and adding onto our central Austin home so our debate is really about a DIY or Home Depot type vs. our contractor building us a new shed to replace the garage we're knocking down as part of the larger project.

I'm kind of thinking that it will be more economical and get a better product in the long run if we use the contractor, who we like, and his guys so just build us something from scratch. Should have some economies of scale considering he's already going to be adding about 350 s.f. in a 4th bedroom and 1/2 bath.

I put in a 10x10 from lowes a year and a half ago. It's got a little loft. Used a 10% off moving coupon also. I put it on treated 4x4s on concrete squares. Love it. No problems at all. I use it as a work shop and ran electric to it. Would buy again for sure.
