Well as much as people like to argue the 260 vs 6.5 Creedmoor ...why not. Its time to build me a new rifle and after looking at the numbers I am going to do a 7 mm creedmoor. Will be a bit before we get the rifle built but here is the first step to getting a reamer made. On the left is a 7 mm creedmoor with 160 Grain accubonds on the right is a 6.5 Creedmoor with 129 SSTs.

With the 7mm.08 being so popular in Texas (hardly ever build one for anyone out of the state) I figured since the creedmoor has more room in the mag, and feeds and cycles better than the 260. Lets make it a 7mm. Should be a great little low recoil mid range round.

.308 sucks!! I've always wanted a 7CM!

Alright I'll play the devil's advocaye.
WHY?
You already have a bullet with the highest BC short of a big 338/30 cal. And I don't think you'll get the velocities you can with a 6.5.

Soooo why?

Mainly because the 7.08 is so popular in Texas and I think the CM would be a better round than that. With the availability of the 150 LR Accubonds you could get the .284 in a bc of .611 which is higher than the 6.5s at around 27-2750. So you get a little more punch. The case is shorter than the 7.08 so you can seat it long in the mag well but it should feed and cycle better than the 7.08 case.

Velocity should be a bit higher with equal bullet weights as well.
