Anyone vouch whether commercial squirrel repellant works? Think I may have one/some in my attic. Been told live traps won't work because "they're too smart" to enter the trap which appears to be the case.

If one can vouch repellant works...can you recommend a mfg/brand, i.e.,Ortho, etc???

#1 trap with a pecan half in the pan. Make sure you wire it to something so you can pull it out.

Careful using it in the attic though. It will eat holes through the ceiling.

Yea...but neighbors are west coast types and not exactly tolerant of us who are of the red meat variety. :-)

Brilliant! Problem is...you gotta catch em before you can relocate em to a witness protection program next door.

You don't have to catch them, just make your lefty neighbor's attic more attractive than yours.

Figure out how they are getting in. Put some parchment paper over the hole. Soak tennis balls in ammonia, toss them around the attic where you hear them. When you go 48 hours without the paper getting torn, patch the enterance up.

take some rags soaked in ammonia and place in area where squirrels are nesting, then if you can place a radio on an all talk station in the area (preferably rush limbaugh) and that will more than likely drive them out.

Small Havahart and a sugary cereal. They are not too smart. I cleared out a family of 5 in about 1.5 days using Frosted Flakes.

I had the same problem (squirrels in my attic). Tried trapping, but not much luck. I set one trap in the attic and one outside. Finally caught one in the outside trap. Once I was confident none were in the attic, I patched the hole. They gnawed a new one. I've had to patch several times. Best repellent has been my pellet gun. I have eliminated 25 squirrels from my back yard over the past year. Word seems to have gotten around the squirrel hangouts that my place is a harder target than my neighbors. Haven't had a squirrel in the attic in a while now, nor new holes appearing.

When we moved in to our house, had squirrels in the attic. caught 7 of them with a live trap and relocated them several miles away. Before that had tried a lot of the recommended deterrents like moth balls, bug fogger, etc..., w/o success. A cracker with peanut butter on it proved to be irresistible to rocky and his buddies.

Set out a small foil pan with cotton balls in the attic. Soak cotton balls with fox urine after they are in the pan. Don't get it on your fingers, it stinks, well like fox piss.
