Cross posted on travel board, but thought some of ya'll might be of help.

I am looking for a private rental in Fredericksburg area on some land with fishing. Let me know if you have stayed at a place that fits the bill.

I looked around on websites, but I couldn't find any that had a private pond and was a place by itself. Most of them had a few others on the property or were b&b's with several rooms under the same roof.

No idea. But go eat a burger at Hondo's for me while you're there.

Son, this part of Texas has been experiencing a drought that has caused all the fish to pack up and move east or south!

No fishing there but Palo Alto Creek Farms is hard to beat for the private rental.

Skip Hondo's. Hit up Alamo Springs Cafe....you and your arteries will never be the same. They made cover of Texas Monthly once upon a time, maybe last year?

There is a B&B called the Back 40 where you get a small private cabin and can fish the tank. I have stayed there with the Mrs. During dry and rainy years. There are some nice size bass. Look them up if you do not find what you are looking for.

The owner is an Aggie too. ~25 minutes from Fredericksburg.

Thanks for the suggestions. Pooh Ah, have you stayed at the back 40? Curious if there are cabins that are by themselves? I tried checking out on the website, but couldn't tell if they are shared and you just rent rooms, or if you have the place to yourself. If not, I'll just shoot the owners an email. Saw its on a Moritz drive...I knew a Moritz from A&M- wonder if there's any relation.

One more (strong) suggestion/warning: don't stay at the Double B in Harper.

Yes there are Cabins by themselves. It has been a couple of years since I stayed there but we used to go every year. I like it there.

I have stayed in the Guest House and the French Cottage. They are both separate cabins.
