I have shot some of the STAR reactive targets. Lots of fun, until we had to pick up the mess.

Also, when shooting one you have placed next to a huge cholla cactus, make sure you are out of effective cholla thorn shrapnel range when you make the shot.

A 10lb batch will **** some **** up.

The packaging says that only rimfire rifles can detonate it, but a 500 S&W revolver works too

I also know that 1 gallon of diesel, 2 bottled water bottles of gasoline duct taped to 2 pounds of tannerite makes a pretty mushroom cloud of flames.......or so I've heard....

I'm being crucified for it on the gb. Although I've now figured out it was the overall theme. Which is based on a movie I've never seen and I can't figure out the correlation.

No the 22 ones are for lower velocity rounds. Doesn't mean that only 22s will trigger the reaction but simply it will react with a lower impact.

A bag of flour on top of it at night is a lot of fun.

Tannerite is fun. Be sure the bullet your shooting travels fast enough to detonate it.

I may or may not have first hand experience that two small jars of tannerite will disintegrate a dishwasher when placed inside and the door is shut...

it was intended for long distance targets. the small plastic containers that they come in don't do much but make a cloud of smoke and a loud bang. It's when you start concentrating in large amounts that you can actually blow something up.

It's a reactive target. It allows distance shooters to practice without spotting equipment or a lot of walking.

Tannerite is basically an ammonal bomb that replaces the TNT initiator with the concussion of the sonic boom as the bullet passes through.

Adding diesel, or any other fuel, to the mixture will reduce the stability. Diesel, in particular, would change the ammonal bomb to an ANFO bomb. ANFO was McVey's weapon of choice.

Edited: be careful. Many folks complain that chemistry was too difficult. Don't die because you were unaware of the unstable mixture you created.
