Load: Put 2 shells in the mag, then hit the button underneath that makes it spit a round out of the mag, then cycle the action, than top off the mag.

Unload: Cycle the action to remove the one in the chamber, then reach into the magwell and push the catch that releases the shell into your hand, repeat.

If I am just gonna put it in the truck or the scabbard, I just take the shell out of the chamber. This is one thing that I love about my Benelli, that you dont have to cycle all of the shells thru the chamber to unload it.

Thanks RWV...I am going to be using one in a couple of weeks and it's hard to understand their manual when you don't have a gun to hold.

If you cycle one out it doesn't load another shell unless you depress the carrier latch....correct?

....but the carrier latch plays no part when shooting as far as the action is concerned....correct?

Correct and correct.

And if you figure out how far you can pull the bolt back before it cycles the flipper on the magazine you can jam and extra 2 3/4 shell down there and get 4 shots without altering the plug.

After I gave up on trying to understand their manual I googled "How to load and unload an Benelli SBE."

I got covered up with "Ghost loading" videos but none of what I was looking for.

After you shoot the first round and it ejects...the ghost round goes in the chamber.....does the third round wind up on the carrier bar or stay in the magazine?

RWV...that sounds like something that needed fixing....I would have needed a long long string before I could ever have pulled the trigger with that deal...

It can still be done on the later model SBE's and the SBE II's, but it can only be done with 2 3/4's. The original SBE's you could put a an extra 3.5 on the carrier. Now you can only pull the bolt back so far before it engages the bar. The trick is to push the shell into the barrell first then press it back down onto the carrier.

I can float an extra shell in my SBE. I never do it, though. I figure, if I can't kill it with three, then four is just wasting ammo.

Flower Mound. Thanks but no thanks. I've got it now. I was just trying to understand the difference before using one.

Ok, i just spent the last ten min trying to float one on my carrier, and I couldnt get it to work. My old boss had 3 old ones and they all would do it. I just cant get this one to do it. My serial # is U199xxx if that means anything to anyone. And, since I work for DU, it embarrasses me not to be an expert on the shotgun that I use.

Sunchaser, I'm in Livingston, but I figured I could show you easier and in less time than I could describe it.
