my wife gave our 2 dogs a pecan each. both dogs puking

My dogs eat hem off the ground. Ole Lumpy is 8 and has eaten them since he was a pup.
Well she gave them each one. The Rottweiler barfed once and the basset hound 3 times
My dog and I eat them all the time. I have a bowl full of them on the coffee table. He breaks the shell off and eats the nut as he pleases

Have you yelled at your wife?? That always makes me feel better. Don't know what it does for the dogs though.
Are they toxic to dogs?
My dads dachshund loved them. She ate them out of the yard all the time and never had any problems.

Since no one has helped a brotha out yet....
1.) They are not toxic. We eat them. The dogs eat them. But, maybe your dogs are not 'one' with the pecan....so....
2.) Let them puke them up. It won't kill them and they should pass it in no time.
The pecan she gave them was not rotten or moldy was it? The MIGHT do it.

Man, my wiener dog was a Pecan grazing machine. When we lived in a house with a Pecan tree she watched that tree like a hawk, she about knew when it was Bonanza time. There never was a problem with pecans going in, but she did have repeated issues with them coming out as she did shell and all.
Never heard of pecans being toxic to animal. My guess would be some kind of allergy maybe...unless pecans were old and moldy or they ate the shell too?

In a serious reply, almost every animal in Texas eats pecans in their diet. And dogs sometimes yak up chewed bits of pecans, generally because they ate too much shell with them. Watch your dogs to make sure they don't eat them again.

Grapes, raisins, chocolates... all perfectly safe for human consumption, but toxic to dogs. His question wasn't out of the realm of possibilities for someone that doesn't know.
I have never heard of Pecans being toxic for dogs. My dog has shared them with me many times

Macadamia nuts are extremely toxic to dogs.
Our basset pulled a large bag off the counter and consumed it while we were out.
The dog puked it all up but spent the night shaking and convulsing and barely made it though the ordeal.

Our basset would be sleeping then the heaving began. She is worn out this morning. Of course now my wife is in the "I'm a bad person" mode this morning.
My dad, now deceased, had a pecan orchard. Every creature known to man loves pecans, including coyotes and every dog he has ever owned.

Even though heath advisories were issued, there still is no conclusive evidence that grapes are toxic to dogs. My cairns loved grapes and ate them often with no ill effects. There are still studies ongoing which seem to show grapes do cause renal failure in dogs, but, scientists still don't know why, or can't explain why some dogs are affected and some are not.
Grapes and raisins are no question toxic (I've seen 2 dogs die from renal failure post consumption). The only issue I've seen with pecans are an obstruction.

Yes, they can't determine why grapes kill some dogs and not others, but the fatal dose is quite large for almost all dogs. A 50lb dog has to eat like 3/4 pound of grapes to be in serious danger.
Vet said no Pecans or tree nuts if the dog has never been around them to get used to them. Said they are toxic if old or moldy or at high quantities. Something hit both of them. Maybe the Rotty pukes from the stench

Bones? Bones are dangerous to dogs?
Poultry bones are hollow. Fish bones are obvious. I was always told beef bones only for dogs.
