The rib is getting me a grille gaurd for Christmas and I was curious what your thoughts were on Tough Country. I have a 2011 F150 and I can only find a couple of pictures online of them on F150s. Does anyone have a TC on their F150 or have pics of it. I also am looking at a Coyote Country out of Schertz if anyone has ever dealt with them. I am open to all suggestions as well.

I have Tough Country front & rear bumper replacments on an F250 as does one son. Great product.

Sean98 had a TC on his F150 before he got it dirty and traded it in. If I remember correct he was going to get another for his new truck.

I loved my tough country. It lived through 3 Kansas deer attacks with virtually no damage.

I will be buying another for my new pickup but need to save up a bit first since I've spent a million dollars on vet bills.

If you can get past the "Affliction"esque nature of their website, and get to the product itself, they are top notch.

Screw you Sean. Your constant complaining caused them to eliminate girls in short blue jeans and itty bitty T shirts on their web site.

If I really wanted to know what a deluxe bumper replacement looks like I can walk out in the garage.

Pretty sure that is an A&M license plate on the Ford Super Duty they use in the scrolling pictures on the home page.

I got mine from http://www.bodyguardbumpers.com/
located in Honey Grove, Texas. It does not stick out as far as a ranch hand bumper.

Tough Country is Aggie owned. I've had deluxes on all three of my F-350's. They're solid and saved my trucks from deer many times.

But yeah it sucks they've gotten rid of the girls.

I have a frontier. Looks good.

I have no need for a grille guard. Oh yeah, probably but too darn cheap to do it.

I can say this, if it is the Tough Country made I El Campo, Tx...I know that family. They do NOT build second rate stuff. If it's them, what most would call a grill guard, they make a cow plow.

Yes, they're in El Campo. And they make a great product. I have their Deluxe Rear Bumper and I love it. Had I known they existed when I got my front bumper I probably wouldn't have gotten a Ranch Hand, although I have absolutely no complaints about the Ranch Hand either. Can't go wrong with either one.

Tough Country and Frontier are both Aggie owned and operated. I've heard that Ranch Hand is as well but I don't know if that's true or not.

I just looked at their website 2 months ago when I got my truck and it was awful. What they have now is MUCH better.

Plus it's the internet. If you really want girl pics, you have WAY better options.

Sean,

Did you have the full replacement or just the grille guard. I am looking for a little front end protection as well as something to cover up the overpowering amount of chrome in the grille. The only thing holding me back on the Tough Country is that it looks about 2-3" narrower than the grille itself on either side. Did you ever notice this or do the online pictures not do it justice?

I just had the brush guard on mine, they did not recommend a full bumper replacement with an F-150. This was on a 2005 model, but there was no lack of coverage.

If I had it to do over again (and I'm about to with the new truck) the only thing I'd do different is to have some of the smaller mesh wire welded into the frame of the guard. When I smacked one doe her head wrapped around and did a little damage in front of the radiator (broke the plastic air screen there).

In other words, I'd choose this type:

I'm just the opposite. I don't like the expanded metal. Cooling on diesel trucks was an issue early on some setups due to blocking air...

I'm currently calling around to a few shops in San Antonio for Grill Guards.

Tough Country grill guard from one place is $750 (no install).

Tough Country from another place with install is $575. But they don't have them in stock and it'll take 2-3 weeks for TC to get them one.

The Ranch Hand store wants $535 plus $65 install for their Legend series.

El Campo can't be much more than an hour away. Call them. They install unless they dropped that service.

Yep, one can purchase from TC in El Campo and they'll install.

Brush guard is $499 plus $50 for expanded metal. Install is $95.

I'd do it despite the ~5 round trip and taking a half day vacay but it'll take them 4 weeks to build one for a 2010 Sierra.

The brush guards that aren't integrated into a replacement bumper look cool, but if you ever hit something big, they're basically "damage spreaders" Most of them attach only at the bottom, and not very well, and they're not hugely strong. They'll deflect maybe a small deer or, brush, but if you rear end someone at 20mph and the uprighs give or mounting bolts snap, where before you might damage your bumper and grille, the brushguard can spread the damage to headlights, fronts of quarterpanels, hood, etc.

Better to get the full bumper with brush guard welded on.

The Kaspars' in Shiner still own Ranch Hand if I'm not mistaken. Plenty of Aggies there.

I received a quote from B&H Customs in Pflugerville. They quoted both the Ranch Hand and Tough Country for $525 installed.

When I bought my rear bumper from Tough Country they installed it for free. I had to drive from Round Rock to El Campo, but it saved me a couple hundred in shipping and installation.

Got a fan fours black steel for my f350. Pretty easy to install. They are heavy though winch +bumper is just under 400lbs.

if you wanted to get it powder coated there is a place in Navasota caked custom coaters and they did a really nice job on my bumpers. It was 500 for them to coat front and back. They do prefer it is bare steel though
