Co-worker bought a cabin in that area about a year ago. We've fished spots like the tide gauge and King Ranch shorelines, with low to moderate success. Anybody you guys willing to share areas to fish down there? I'm not looking for prime spots, just areas where we can catch fish. Would prefer areas than we could drift. Thanks in advance.

One of my all time favorite places to fish has been "The Graveyard....Starvation Hole" or whatever you choose to call it. It's a good place to drift but you aren't going to be able to get in and out in every boat.

The two places I like to wade are the Kenedy/Los Corralos/Black Bluff shoreline.....SE side of Baffin and what was once called Point of Rocks. On some maps now it's the Badlands. It's going to be the NE area right off the ICC.
Both of those places are tricky getting behind the rocks. There are two types of rocks....numerous and frequent.

Numerous are the ones you miss.
Frequent are the ones you hit.

We've run in water where I could lean out the boat and touch bottom, so we can run in pretty skinny water. 10-4 on the rocks. We can get to the Tide Gauge, but don't know of a safe route of passage to Starvation Point. It looks like there are frequent rocks past the southwest end of the Tide Gauge.

Don't go anywhere in there in a hurry. Lower unit graveyard.

Htown- with regards to the Graveyard, you may be able to run skinny but if you can't float skinny and get up skinny you're out of luck.

There are spots in the Graveyard where myself and another guy had to get out of a Hells Bay skiff that has an honest floating draft of about 5" and push it to water it would float in.

5" is perfect. Keeps the riff raff out. I wouldn't try any of those places by your self. Go with someone in a similar type boat.

Yeah but I've got to imagine running an airboat 25+ miles from Bird Island to the Graveyard is a cast-iron beyotch.

If you run the shoreline it isn't too bad. If you run the ICW, you will have no cartilage left in your spine.

Finn....any flat bottom in the ICW is rough but running along the shoreline in a foot of water is smooth. Likewise, you can't launch an airboat at Bird Island. Marker 37 makes it an additional 11 miles or so.

Didn't know you can't launch an airboat at Bird Island. Why not?

PINS rules. Just like you can't launch a hard bottom boat from the beach, or a soft bottom longer than 12', no beach buggies, rails, ATV's, golf carts or Segways.

Well, my trip got hosed, so it will likely be in two weeks now.

A guy in another slip near mine has had this boat several years. It is probably the ugliest boat I have ever seen. I doubt if I offend anyone because according to him they only made something like five and didn't sell all of those. He got a good deal.

About a month ago he showed up with a 20' Haynie cat with about a 250hp Mercury engine. Since then he has been washing it along with adding drift nets, anchor etc to it.....really proud of it.

I got here after the game yesterday and noticed ole yellow was in the slip. Turns out his son took the Haynie down to Baffin...hit a rock and totaled the lower unit.

This.

Aubrey didn't get the memo that big girls can't be caught in August. On arties nonetheless.
