Does summer garage heat damage mono fishing line?

Need to store my rods/reels somewhere other than a pile in the corner. Was thinking about getting an overhead ceiling rack but got to thinking that given how hot it gets up there (high ceiling with a spare refrigerator working below) it might cause some heat damage to the equipment.

Asked in the Subject line about the line but will the heat cause concern for the rods/reels/line?

Light and heat both cause it to degrade

Thanks. Forgot to ask about braided lines - are they affected by the heat as well?

No direct sunlight so that won't be a problem

Light far more than heat

What about a rack in a guest bedroom closet? Or overhead in your master closet?

It won't ruin in a year and the stuff is dirt cheap for 500 yards. I'd just replace when I went fishing. If your really cheap, just spool it off on another reel. Then the line on the inside of the old will be on the outside of the new and your good to go.

Ive heard it weakens both mono and braid. Some of my offshore rods have $100 worth of braid on them and I do everything possible to prevent tackle failures. The wife may get tired of hunting and fishing crap all around but my rods have their very own corner in the A/C.
