Mounting a rail on a free float tube

I bought this rail so I can put it on my free float hand guard. Right now I have no way to attach a light or my GoPro to my AR. I'm not opposed to drilling a couple of holes in the hand guard. But What if I were to attach it with some locktite or something similar? I have no plans on selling this AR or any of the parts off of it so I'm not worried about resale value.

My main two concerns are getting it mounted as straight as possible and mounting it to where it does not fall off after shooting it a few mags out of the AR.

The rail:

And this is the hand guard I want to mount it on:

I would just look into a new free-float handguard with the holes to mount rails

Drill, chamfered pan head hex screws, nuts, lock washers. Mark a line, and use a punch to mark the drill spots on that line. You should be able to remove that handguard with a strap wrench.

Be very careful on those rail's slots. They may not be wide enough to accept many pica tinny attachments! Weaver width is fine, but weaver slots are narrower.

Not to mention that mounting option, assuming it works, will give you zero flexibility if you ever want to move stuff around. The setup you think may work in the garage may not in the field. Sell it and get the Troy. I love my Alpha Rail.

That's a standard width rail ARBubba. I have a magnifier, a flashlight mount and my GoPro mount that I've had mounted on my other AR's and my Mini-14 before I sold them. They all three fit right on this rail. Maybe my little hands make it look bigger. I see what you mean about the slots though. I'm glad I had my GoPro mount in my pocket when I bought this.

And why would I want to put $150 or more dollars into buying a new free float handguard when for less than $10 I can have exactly what I want with this rail mounted. And in the future if I think its necessary, I can spend $10 more and put another rail. But I'm not one of those guys who has to have 15 things mounted on my gun at one time. I will either need a light OR my camera. I wouldn't be using both at the same time.
