Ask a professional adventure touring employee why. When you have to keep 10-14 days worth of gourmet quality foods in the proper condition for serving, they buy Yetis. And they shoot anybody that opens them without prior authorization.

Not exactly the same but yea in concept both shirts do the same job. Does a Yeti look like a Coleman cooler? Some people buy Mercedes and some buy Chevrolets. They both get you down the road and to your destination but one is more comfortable, makes you appear that you've got more money and might even last longer but in the end they are just both vehicles that get you from point A to point B.

I own 2 Yeti coolers. One was a gift and one was bought at a memorial day sale for 50% off but I enjoy the heck out of them but different strokes for different folks...

Same as anything, the companies will charge what the market will pay.

It probably started off as a "Dallas price problem" where nobody was buying them because they weren't overpriced. So they jacked the price up higher than Ted Kennedy's BAC and boom, people started buying them.

"Oh, it costs a lot? It must be the best".

Now with all that said, I do own a 45 quart Yeti and I love it. Works better than any cooler I've ever had. And I've had several Coleman's, even one of the steel/aluminum ones.

They charge so much because people will pay that much, plain and simple.

And considering that Yeti is pretty much maxed out on production, they would be dumb not to charge that much.

I think Coleman Xtreme is slightly better at holding ice, but I don't think there is any debate that a Yeti or Engel is more rugged. So the argument becomes - buy 1 Yeti 125 qt for $499.99 (Cabelas) or buy 9 Coleman Xtreme 120 Qt coolers for $52 (Walmart).

Never understood why people care what other people pay for their stuff. If they can afford it, more power to them. If you can't, your issue is not with them.
