How long do you want to ignore this user?
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good chip for my Lowrance that covers Lower Laguna Madre. My buddies and I fish from CC Bay to the Landcut and have been relying on memory/graph/Hook-N-Line maps to record our fishing spots. Obviously we'll drop markers on our GPS, but we're looking for a chip or something we can upload to our GPS that shows more detail, channels, etc.

Any suggestions?

Really need all of Laguna Madre... but I'm assuming if it had Baffin, Landcut, etc. that it would also have CC Bay and maybe a little further north.

I don't know about the bays but we use Navonics for offshore. I would say they are the standard. Work great from offshore to my slip. The platinum card is new since we bought the last one. You can go to their website and see if their cards will work in your Lowrance.

My parents condo is in Laguna Madre and I grew up around there.

That area is over fished. We rarely catch anything

Google Earth is a pretty good resource when you're on the water.

A chip might guide you around oyster beds or rocks but there really isn't any substitute for experience. The LLM is so shallow as a water body that spending money on a chip is a waste, IMO. I would find someone to fish with down here or spend a couple of days fishing out of Port Mansfield with your red dot map and GPS and just get a feel for the bay.

I am speaking from some experience, too. I have a GPS that I got for a present probably 8 years ago, got the chip for the LLM (it was a Magellan device) and used it maybe 3 times. All my fishing now is done based on experience on the water.

I would add, if you don't have a shallow draft boat, you won't be able to access at least 75% of the water.

The LLM has a 5 trout limit and is anything but over fished. If you aren't catching fish, you are doing it wrong or fishing the wrong spots. We have 90% success and those are usually great trips. Weather and tides are HUGE factors however in the LLM.
