When's the best time to plant? I 'inhereted' a garden in the house I bought last summer, which the RIB and I really enjoyed. She's already asking me when we can start! Is there a specific time frame or since its warmer I should be okay to start by the end of the month?

Any advice?

Depends on where you are and what you're planting. I'm on the border and mine is already in.

Where are you in the state? onion plants need to already be in and potatoes should go in on Valentine Day. Last frost date is the key for most of your above ground crops. I would suggest getting a Farmers Almanac and follow those dates. It is a great guide and has some interesting information in it.

Onions and potatos went in last weekend. Carrots, spinach, and spring mix will go in this weekend. Tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant were started indoors several weeks ago and are coming along nicely. They'll go in the ground after the last frost.

If you can find it now big guy you can most likely plant. Probably not gonna get a late freeze

I have onions, spinach sprouting, and sugar snap peas. If you think they are worth it, there is probably still time to plant cole crops (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage).

None of the above do well once it gets hot, except for the onions going through their final maturing stage.

Potatotes going in this weekend.

Spring stuff like tomatoes is about mid March planting time for us.

Im in Waller County. Onions are in. Potatoes later on. Tomatoes transplants go in mid march at the Earliest. Anything from seed goes in near the end of March. it makes for better germination and a stronger plant. Follow the planting calendar, after a few years you'll know how to tweak it for your area exactly.
