All my guns (rifle, handguns, shotguns) need a good cleaning and I don't have a good, legitimate kit.

I've been looking through Amazon just to see whats available as far as universal kits, but none of them have stellar reveiws.

Any recommendations on a good universal kit? I don't mind dropping some cash either on something with decent quality.

I got an Otis universal that has stuff to clean from .17 to 12ga. I used it only to clean my Sig 938. It worked fine. I like to cable idea over a solid rod.

Yeah the Otis Elite universal kit was actually the best rated on Amazon and what I was leaning towards. I just wanted to ask and see what others said before I dropped a whole bill on a cleaning kit.

Go to Academy and get the deluxe kit they sell there, a bottle of Hoppe's #9, and old cotton tee shirt and some scissors.

Done.

Hard to beat the little Otis kit.

I've got a universal kit from Walmart that I think is sold by Winchester. After I filed up my felt cleaning Matt and put it in there everything stays put when the case is closed. There's a few other things that I've added to it and stuck in there. And old t shirt and a bottle of Hoppes and I'm good to go!

Otis. And, I have cleaned everything from a .17 adult pellet gun to a .44 cap and ball to a 12 gauge and most stuff in between. Am sold on the Otis system.

funny how we deer hunters worry about using sent free deodorant, detergent, wind direction etc....but I've never seen anything on "sent-free" gun oil...that stuff is strong...I wonder why it's not a concern???

Buy a black powder revolver... you'll clean your smokeless guns much less frequently. Whatever you've got now for cleaning now will be good enough compared to disassembling the entire weapon and scrubbing it clean in hot, soapy water every time you shoot it.
